  1. The day is young.
  2. edited to add a useful comment. I carry a fullsize gun with just a polo shirt covering it and my wife can't tell most of the time. I've carried the same gun over to the in-laws house before and they've never noticed it before either.
  3. TN has a statewide leash law.
  4. Hearing and eye protection are a must. They're a minor inconvenience but very much worth the protection.
  5. Since I'm playing hooky from work today here's some pics of my M&P. Take down lever Sear deactivation lever (yellow)
  6. I don't think he was talking about shooting headshots exclusively. Besides, headshots are fun to practice every now and then.
  7. If he's flipping a takedown latch AFTER locking the slide back then that "takedown latch" is the sear deactivation lever. Once that is flipped down, you do not need to dry fire the gun.
  8. Not all models have the magazine disconnect. Mine does, but I know that's not a popular feature with some folks. molonlabetn is correct. The slide has to be locked back before you can access the take down lever. Pulling the trigger will not work.
  9. I can only confirm this on the fullsize M&P9mm, but you do not have to dry fire before takedown. Instead of dry firing there is a sear deactivation lever that you flip down. I think all M&P's are like this, but like I said all I can confirm is the 9mm.

    dissaster kit???

Don't forget your hot water tank. As long as you shut off the city water before it gets contaminated you've got 30+ gallons of potable water right there.
  11. Can we have an option for "I am tired of hearing this debate and just don't care one way or the other"?
  12. I've got a Blackhawk CQC holster for my M&P9 that has a release button. If I push in the button and draw my finger ends up on the slide lock lever, not on the trigger.
  13. So if you aren't sure who is on the other side of the door it's ok to answer the door with a long knife but not a gun??? Pass me the tin foil hat , but I would rather answer my door with a gun at my side than a knife any day of the week.
  14. S&W M&P9mm -- loaded chamber, no manual safety Bersa Thunder .45 UC -- loaded chamber, de-cocked, safety on
  15. IANARS (I am not a rocket scientist) but hitting a target that is moving in 1 direction, while going at a constant rate of speed, doesn't sound all that hard. Hunters have know the secret to this for generations. All you have to do is lead the shot. Shouldn't be that difficult.
  16. I work for a small (<15 employees) company and in our Nashville office there are only 4 of us. There is no one in the Nashville office that has the authority to tell me I can't carry. Even if there was someone that had the authority, I don't think they would prohibit me from carrying. Now going out to a jobsite is a different story. Most of my jobs are at Metro schools or college campus' where I legally can't carry.
  17. Isn't thread drift one of the fundamental rules of nature where the internet is concerned?
  18. I don't understand how someone that has the use of their arms is considered quadriplegic. Taken from Merriam-Webster Online:
  19. Here's a link to the story on MSNBC I can only wonder what the deputy was thinking when she dumped him out of the chair.
  20. You just couldn't resist could you? /waits for the inevitable Glock haters/lovers to post
  21. Speaking of looking all "mall ninja like". Has anyone seen the show called Ocean Force on Fox Reality? It's about the Hermosa Beach lifeguards and police force. Anyway, there's a cop on there that looks like the definitive Mall Ninja type. I know he's really a cop, but he just looks so much like a wannabe that I can't help but laughing.
  22. I second this. Actually reading what the law says and understanding it is very important. I find myself going back and rereading it to refresh my memory every few months.
  23. I want one! Where can I get a truck like that?
  24. Congratulations! Can I interest you in a HCP badge?
