  1. Over 1.8 million votes, 96% Yes.
  2. Here is the latest from THOMAS: THOMAS (Library of Congress) Still no cosponsors, and no action reported since 9 Feb 09.
  3. Voted. He's at 70.6% of 75 total votes.
  4. Check out this thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/political-issues/19496-prof-carry-bill-killed.html
  5. Okay, I'll bite...why (not being confrontational, just willing to hear your views )?
  6. In the interest of full disclosure, a poster in another forum where I posted this said that "Uncle" had said (not sure if Bush or Obama administration) that the seventeen Chinese were caught up in arrests and had not been involved in terrorist activities. To which I replied that was the same Uncle whose judgment I was not certain I trusted in this matter.
  7. These emails were based upon the TFALAC Legislative Alert for 23 March 2009. I know they are a "laundry list," but legislators who have spoken at the Nashville TFA Chapter Meetings have suggested this to-the-point approach. Be certain to mention constituent both in Subject Line and at beginning of email, but do not use this subject line--that makes it look too much like a "form letter," which legislators do disregard: To my Senator (a strong supporter of gun rights): </st1></st1:street></o></o></o></o></o></o></o>To my Representative (NOT a strong supporter):
  8. http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/03/welfare_for_freed_gitmo_detain_1.asp Somehow, this does not give me a warm, fuzzy feeling. I'm not certain I trust this administration's definition of "non-threatening."
  9. Maybe contact a pro- legislator and ask them to pass this on to Ford. If this is going on, Mr. Ford may have cause to wonder about exactly where his constituents stand. He may be hearing his screener's opinion, and she only has ONE vote. Something else to cause Mr. Ford pause?
  10. Again, why not simply make the possession of a valid Handgun Carry Permit an affirmative defense against prosecution? It doesn't cost a cent, just put the wording into the law?
  11. Voted Yes. Current Results: <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td colspan="2" class="poll">Should Tennessee legislators allow people with conceal-carry handgun permits to take their weapons into businesses that serve alcohol?</td></tr><tr><td class="poll" width="100%">Yes</td><td class="poll" width="100%" align="right">17%</td></tr><tr><td class="poll" width="100%">No</td><td class="poll" width="100%" align="right">82%</td></tr><tr><td class="poll" width="100%">Undecided</td><td class="poll" width="100%" align="right">1%</td></tr><tr><td class="poll" width="100%">I Don't Care</td><td class="poll" width="100%" align="right">1%</td></tr><tr><td class="poll" width="100%">Total Votes</td><td class="poll" width="100%" align="right">2498</td></tr></tbody></table> Need more votes, folks!
  12. Why not just make possession of a Handgun Carry Permit an affirmative defense against prosecution?
  13. The camo job is not my style--to each his own. I DO love my Hi-Power, though (a 70s production)--again, to each his own.
  14. Well, "sagging" is all the rage among infantile adolescents, don't you know....
  15. Unfortunately, the "people" you mention are the same folks who don't mind losing any of their rights for a little temporary security.
  16. Voted No in this poll. Current results: Should assault rifles be banned in Alabama following Tuesday's rampage? <table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td valign="top" width="4%" align="right"><input name="optResponse" style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255) none repeat scroll 0% 0%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" value="response1" type="radio"></td> <td width="46%" align="left"> NO </td><td valign="top" width="4%" align="right"><input name="optResponse" style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255) none repeat scroll 0% 0%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" value="response2" type="radio"></td> <td width="46%" align="left"> YES </td></tr><tr><td valign="top" width="4%" align="right"><input name="optResponse" style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255) none repeat scroll 0% 0%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" value="response3" type="radio"></td> <td colspan="4" width="96%" align="left"> UNSURE </td></tr></tbody></table> <input value="vote" name="submit" style="font-size: 10px;" type="submit"> Thank you for participating in our poll. 17. Anyone have a sense of whether our esteemed Governor will sign them or not?
  18. Prayers sent for all.
  19. Yes, I have enjoyed it as well.
  20. Understood. This is a yet another good reason to stay in the U. S. of A.
  21. In general, the House operates on a week-to-week schedule--subcommittee one week, full committee the next, full House the next. The Senate is more open-ended (fewer members=more time).
  22. Yes, Senator Robert Byrd (D, WV).
