  1. +1 for slide glide. Shooters Choice works well on Sig rails too. Sig forum has a good read on lubricating Sigs, Perhaps thats the one Coop was talking about earlier.
  2. I haven't been to Flemmings in the past year but I would put their steaks equal or above Ruth's Chris and the service was much better. Usually though for a great steak I buy aged and grill it myself over wood and lump charcoal. As for Cherokee I grew up going there. It's just down 109 from my folks. Good place, good people and not a chain. The steaks won't rank up as high as the high end joints but I would prefer to give the local shop my money over a chain. Another good place to check out places is www.roadfood.com lot's of real reviews for about anything

He isn't a member here...yet. But the person who probably has the most to do with me shooting received a kidney in the last 2 years and is doing wonderful. Now if I could just get him to stop bringing his EBR with him when we go shoot it might keep me from wanting one.
  4. In the short term you could use your class A and see who is looking for day drivers or yard drivers for some of the transfer places. Another thing if you like people is getting the P endorsement on your CDL and driving folks back and forth from Nashville to the casinos that are north of you. Not sure what they make but if you feel you really have to make a change they are the fast options. Personally I hope to have my own business one day, but until then I'll keep doing what I need to.
  5. Cool Springs WalMart is supposed to get their shipment in tomorrow. Not a very big one. Handful of 40 SW, 45 and 9mm looks to be the biggest part. Apparently the store mgr told them to stop ordering so the people back there informed everyone to start calling him and complaining. It worked and they could place an order.....keep up the calls.
  6. hard to beat $40/year. only downside is it closes pretty early during the fall/winter. Charlie's a great guy, and I'm glad I joined. Tripledigit already posted the info... .45 Here is the info from the site Range Schedule The range is open 7 days a week year round opening at 8AM Monday-Friday and at 9AM on Sundays. On the first weekend of the month, the range is closed in an effort to aid noise reduction for the neighborhood. Range closing times are as follows: January 4:30 February 5:00 March 5:20 April 6:30 May-August 7:00 September 6:30 October 5:30 (5:00 after time change) November 4:30 December 4:00 +1 and then some on Charlie being a great guy.
  7. I found that if you grab a laser pointer and start doing John Madden color commentary on those shows...they tend not to be watched as much when you're around. Just try pointing the dot at a models legs and show how she broke the wrong way down the runway (using your best Madden voice). (hopefully she doesn't keep her gun next to the remote )
  8. Thanks for the link. I found those same panels at Midway about 2 hours ago for about a buck less and decided what the heck. They won't make it for the weekend but should be in Monday which is just as good since the kids both want to go down to "Mr. Charlie's" on fall break. I'll see how it feels then. Thanks again for finding the ebay link.
  9. Thanks for the link COOP. I guess I just need to make up my mind.
  10. I keep eying the 239 but I know for carry I want something smaller at first, THEN I will get a 239 (there's just no avoiding it ). The 220 looks great but I know I will have to start reloading if I shoot .45 as well as .357sig. I appreciate all the help this forum gives. it's been a great find. I hope to run across any of you that shoot down at CHMR.
  11. There have been no failures at all. It's just a "feel". Thats why I am going to try different grips and see if its just in how I am holding it. Had a G26 for about 450 rounds....its out on consignment right now.
  12. It's not a dislike as much as it is a comparison of it to other 229s I have shot. It only has about 600 rounds through it so I am sure it will work out more as I continue to shoot. I think I may order some Hogue panels for it since I dont see any re-checkered grips on the Hogue auction site. I think it will be a grip issue more than anything for me...well..that and comparing the way it feels compared to the 225. Also looking for something smaller for CCW. I liked the way the 232 felt but I think I would have to start reloading if I want to step into .380 at this moment.
  13. Picked up a "new" P225 last weekend at the gun show. Date code on it is JE so 1984 if memory serves me right. Its in pristine condition and fires like a dream with target rounds. (still haven"t fired any hollow points through it but the seller says he will smooth the feed ramp if there are any issues). Already put 500 rounds through it and it gets better each time. Is this typical of a 225 ? Might have to consider another just to have if so. I wish my P229 (.357Sig) shot as well. Not sure on the 229 date. I will have to look but I know it is much newer. I think I am going to try the Hogue panels for the 229 since the wrap around is a bit chunky. The panels it came with seemed to gap slightly in the back. I would love to try the G10 grips but not wanting to drop that money for something I haven't tried. Also thinking about getting a 9mm conversion barrel for the bulk of shooting at the range. Any advice on either gun would be appreciated.
  14. I have a pair of the Howard Leight Impact Sport. Amazon ran a sale a few weeks back and it seemed like a good time to get a pair of electronic ones. They are fine outdoors for me and my P229 .357 sig and P225. Not sure how they would do with large caliber rifle. Indoors I want a better reduction than 22db since the confined space makes things worse. So I switch over to a non-electric pair that offers 30db of reduction. I make my living off my ears so I can't gamble. Maybe one day I'll drop the money on a nicer pair. Right now I'll just keep dropping it on ammo
  15. Looking at their 357 sig @ $330/1000 rounds. Though shipping will probably add another 150 or so it might still be better to get local. Just curious if anyone had any luck, good or bad, with it ?
  16. Wife has the saga, brother has the omnia and coworker has the HTC. saga has been the most stable of the 3. Brother is a power user and hates the omnia because he says its very slow. I can only go on what I see but of those 3 I would go with the saga just for the stability.
