    New toys!

Well the wife got to shoot her 24 7 today. She was pleased with the recoil, or lack thereof, she said the recoil is not a factor which is a good thing. We did not set up a target she just shot at an empty 2 liter bottle at my in-laws, they live out in the country on 33 acres. Let me just say she has got some practicing to do, I guess I will need to be stocking up on some cheap 9 mm rounds!

    New toys!

We bought it from "T&T Grocery and Sporting Goods", they had a nice selection of handguns at the show. They are located in Selmer TN. I bought both guns for right about $635 total which included all paperwork and taxes. I know the Walther P22 was priced at $250 and the Taurus was priced about $340 but since I bought two he gave me a break so that would mean we paid about $320 or $330 for the Taurus and then about $240 or so for the Walther. I thought he had pretty fair prices on all his handguns. The wife was looking at a Springfield 40 cal that she really like but myself and the guys running the table for this dealer thought the recoil might be a little much for her so we went with the 9mm. T&T's phone number is 731-645-9922 if you would like to call them and get prices.
  3. Wow! This subject has certainly brought out some good info and points by all, I was just inquiring as to whether or not I should do this according to the law. I think I have my answer now! Thanks everyone...
  4. I guess I just don't get it. If I shoot someone in self defense then what difference does it make whether or not I have qualified with the gun. To me it would seem I would be better off if I had not qualified with the gun because if I qualify with each gun I may carry, that shows I am proficient with the weapon. If I have not qualified with the weapon then there is no "proof" that I can shoot the gun well enough to kill, so it seems to me in a court of law I would stand a better chance of not going to jail for shooting someone with the gun I have not qualified with... Does that make sense to anyone or have I totally confused everyone?
  5. I was looking at the rangusa site today and saw a course they teach called "add a gun". The deal is you are supposedly only qualified with the gun you used to get your handgun carry permit. I don't remember this as the way my class was taught. I remember my instructor telling us that we could carry any handgun we wanted as long as it was a legally obtained and registered handgun, I also recall him telling us we could carry as many as we wanted as well. What about it folks, what does the law say about this???

    New toys!

When the wife and I went to the Jackson gun show the other day we got her a new Taurus 24 7 PRO 9 mm and I got a new Walther P22. She has not had the chance to shoot her taurus yet but I have shot both of them and my first shot both times I have shot the taurus at about 30ft from target hit dead center of my makeshift bullseye! I am very impressed with the accuracy of this gun. I am equally happy with my new plinker! It shoots pretty accurately for such a short barrel and it is a blast to shoot! So far I have had zero issues with jamming, stove piping or anything like that. I just thought I would share...I could take some pictures if any of you would like to see them, but I figured most of you have probably seen these handguns already.
  7. Welcome from dyersburg. I am a newbie still myself!
  8. My wife, along with her daughter, have decided they want their handgun carry permits, (maybe from listening to me talk about all the scenarios when a self defense handgun would be very usueful??) Anyway it has been a few years since I took my course to qualify for the permit so can some of you tell me where the closest instructor to Dyersburg is?
  9. I have used one the same as tungsten said, to get on paper. I have had great success with mine and it has saved me a few bucks in ammo getting my scopes set on my long guns. I would recommend one to anyone who needs to set or check their scopes.
  10. Can we carry at a gun show? This seems like a pretty dumb question but I plan to go to this one and was just wondering what the law is about it..
  11. I go with Mike357 on this, I totally agree with him in his dissection of the situation.
  12. I hunt with bow, muzzleloader and high powered rifle, as each of the seasons open. I usually get a few deer although in the last few years I have not had any luck with my bow.
  13. My picture is in my avatar, it is the wife and me, although I think in that pic I look a little heavier than I really am!
  14. I bow hunt when I get the chance. You have to be real careful about your shot placement, if you don't have an excellent shot then it is best to pass on the shot. I have lost one deer I gut shot because I made a poor shot, since then I am a lot more particular about shot placement. I try to only take a shot when the deer is broadside and within 25 yds of me, I feel as long as I keep myself limited to these shoot don't shoot parameters I can make a good kill shot that wil dispatch the deer quickly and humanely.
  15. I own a 710 in 30.06 caliber and I have been well pleased with the rifle. I have taken several deer with it and have had zero issues with the accuracy or any other aspect of the rifle. If you "need" a 7mm in your safe then by all means I recommend it!
  16. I am liking the cooler temps because it reminds me that deer season is just around the corner! Now that is something to get excited about at my house!
  17. Yes, I have personally been told this by many knife dealers when I asked about the legality of owning a switch blade. I am a collector now, how about that!
  18. Thanks everyone for all the input and info, I will take all of this into account when we go. I'll take the fifth as to whether or not I will carry there for risk of incriminating myself!
  19. It is not on "park" ground, they call the area "the farigrounds", so if it is not a "park" then I should be ok huh? I will most definitely carry concealed while there if at all.
  20. I live in Dyer county and I thought i would ask some of you folks who may know or can give me a resource that would tell me if i can lgeally carry at our county fair?
