  1. I have tried several differant ones myself, incliding Wilderness, Beltman, and some others. The one I have been wearing everyday for several years is a Milt Sparks. Not sure what makes it better than my others, but it is the one I wear everyday. I have the shark skin and you can't tell it has ever been worn, other than scratches on the buckle maybe.
  2. I think the more I go in the Outpost, the more I am liking that store. I have recently done some business there and feel they were fair. Yes, I did have to ask, and one employee was more willing than another, but I was happy in the end. I live in the Boro and would like to do all my business there, but it is hard to pay an additional 100 bucks on a scope just to have it today. I don't mind the tax, well I do but it does support our state, so I don't include the tax in the difference. They have worked with me on a couple things like that, and I keep going back. They continue to add new things and appear to be growing. I agree what was said about Whittaker Guns, as it is worth the drive.
  3. Man, I am struggling with this. It is tough for me to take off two weeks after I take off with the family. I sure am wanting to though. Anyone else on the fence here? I looked up some reviews on other sites and there is no doubt it is a great class that I NEED.
  4. Same here. I have been really looking at getting some training and this looks like a great class. Hate to burn a weeks vacation on it, but not sure when I could get another class like this.
  5. If you are looking to have it done,,,,,, I took my XD45 to Jeff at Guns and Leather and could not be happier with it. With the logistics, you may prefer to install a kit.
  6. Now if I can get her comfortable enough to start carrying. I told her she needs to get on the womenfolk's forum here to see how other women carry,,, but most of all WHY they carry. She is with the kids a lot more than I am, I will feel better when she does. Anyway I will pass it along, thanks. Sorry for the off topic. Congratulations to you as well!!
  7. Yea my wife received hers yesterday. Just under three weeks. Mine was three months.
  8. Wally World in Antioch had a lot of ammo today. They had plenty of 40 cal and about 1250 rounds of 45 in the Remington value packs. I am sitting pretty good so I left it for you guys!
  9. Smyrna Wal Mart had about 800 rounds of WWB in 38 last night, well they did have about 1100. They also had some Remington green box in 45 also. Had some PD ammo in 45 and 40.
  10. ok... so i re-read this thread again just now... too bad it took so long for the teaching of fact to come out. It occurs to me that you are most likely the expert here on this topic. and it would have been enormously more helpful had you shared the above wisdom (and more) instructively at the outset of this thread... I understand the challenge of communicating with those who do not prescribe to logic. They will make their own decisions... but there are a ton of others 'lurking' here and many could have really learned something. maybe some did. while driving them to your website may be helpful, many will not go. and for the record, your adversary in this little sparring match has done more then you have to drive people to your website by mentioning your "list" at least twice. I for one have been watching closely... i'm a very bright guy, and calling a product a "joke" or "junk" is not instructive. However, telling me that "the welds are such and such, the X is of low quality and the Y is of poor strength / gauge / whatever, gives me facts. Or as you finally pointed out above, you gave some facts. In all things there are "teachable moments"... until now this one was largely missed. Teach us... Bravo, very well said!!!!!! I am in the market for a safe and have looked at them all, high and low. I to was anticipating to learn something through the discussion. I would like to know more details about the quality difference. I was intrigued by the comment that there was one available local that is comparable to the Patriot. I have also talked to them by phone this week to see if it is a safe I would like to have. I always look to support our local vendors, but I also like them to be a "help" to me. I have visited the Safe House in the last month and they were a 'help" at the time. I just did not perceive that same attitude here. No offense to anyone intended, I just like making informed decisions.
  11. I am in having the same struggle myself with which brings the most for the buck. I look forward to the responses. Thanks for posting OP'er
  12. Congrats, and as long as you had fun, that is what matters. The rest will come with time. I also suggest the trigger job. I have a tough time shooting my XD very well because I am so used to my 1911's trigger. I am getting the kit soon myself.
  13. Yea, I appreciate it also. I ordered a couple hundred rounds of the Gold Dot, and ended up ordering another hundred in the Federal Hydro Shok. This will give me a chance to get some "cheaper", still not cheap, rounds through my 1911. I need to qualify it with some HP's. Thanks again for sharing!
  14. 86 days for me. Looks like they may do them in batches, or that is how it appears to me. Obviously mine went in at the first of the "batch". Oh well, it is here now. Yea, I did the wally world yesterday.
  15. FINALLY!! I called the wife and mine was in the mail today. The turnaround was only 84 days today. Our tax dollars hard at work. It is my own fault that I put it off sooo long. I also had high expectations when I read about the folks getting them in 30 to 40 days. Either way, congrats to all of you other folks, and I am thankful the wait is over. Be safe!!
  16. 86 and counting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, they been telling me since 12-7 to expect it in 7 to 14 days.
  17. I am with you guys on this one. I am so tired of waiting, but more tired of the run around. They told me on 12/7/09 it was approved and to allow 7 to 14 days. I call back on the 21st for them to tell me it was issued on the 18th. I just wonder if that is a standard reply they come up with? Well I just figured it up and I am at 84 days today. Guess after this week I can really complain!!
  18. Guess I had not thought about this much. I am like the other guys and would only carry a lot with the hope for an opportunity to go to the range or have some time to shoot. I would think if the purpose for extra ammo is for an event where you had to defend yourself or family, God forbid, you would need another gun as well. I have always been under the impression that if involved in this situation, your gun will be held for evidence until a later date. I may be wrong here, someone correct me if so.
  19. Yea I am getting soooo impatient. Fingerprinted and all on 10-12, e-mailed on 11-9 and the reply said to allow 90 days. on 12-7 I called and they said it was approved and I would have it 10 to 14 days, guy said I should have it before Christmas. Called back today and the told me it was issued on the 18th. I am really getting impatient,,, did I say that already? I seen Alpha7 had his issued on the 17th and received it on the 21st. I just knew it would be here today,,,, not.

So far my Pro CDP has not give me a bit of trouble. I have about 500 rounds with no problems at all. I also read the mixed reviews but found a deal on this used one I could not pass up. So far it has been great. I will trade it one of these days, but it will be to move up to one of the custom makers. Maybe even a Hero-Gear.
  21. I am glad you got an answer. I hope you have it by the end of the week!!!! By the way, Welcome to TN!
  22. Yes sir I agree with you,,,,,,, I did go ahead and make the call. I was really trying to be patient, but I am so anxious to get it I feel like a kid. For what ever it's worth the guy was very nice. I give him my information, he confirmed address and full name, told me everything was approved and I should see it within 7 days or so????? Does this say it was sitting idle at some step of the process??? Did this change anything or would it have been 7 days anyway??? Does this help the original poster??? I don't know the answer, nor did I want to tie him up asking, but I will probably have to take off from work so I can sit at the mailbox the next couple weeks!!!!----------
  23. Has anyone ever stopped in the Foster Ave. office? I work on the next street over and have thought about stopping in. I applied on Oct.12th and when I sent an e-mail a couple weeks ago she just replied to allow 90 days. Should I call?? or do you guys think it would be ok to stop in and ask??
  24. Yea I just ordered one of these to try myself. Keep those ideas coming because I plan on coming up with a good mix myself. The closer you guys can get me the less I have to practice. The wife might even think I did something right for a change. Yea right:biglol:
