Wonder why Obama didn't suck up to H$U$ and PETA by asking if the applicant had a fishing license and didn't release the fish; or if the applicant had ever eaten meat?

Let us not forget that McCain also promised to shut GITMO down.

Nashville Chapter is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 pm - please arrive early to get your orders in or start on the buffet. I normally try to arrive by 6:00 p.m. but we have had people arrive before 5:00 p.m. to eat and socialize. Location: Interstate Drive Shoneys in the meeting room. This is the Shoneys next to the Titan's stadium right across from the Gerhest House. You do not have to be a TFA member to attend nor do you have to be a resident of Nashville. Everyone is welcome and encourage to bring guests - even spouses. Our guest speaker will be Michael Sanders, President of TactiaLogic and a TFA member. Mr. Sanders has previously presented a program on the AR-15 Weapons System covering its history, the variations, issues, usage, accessories, and ammunition. This time he will be addressing the broader issue of situational awareness. This topic may be of interest to family members and friends who do not own or carry firearms for self-defense but who could benefit from a discussion about improving your changes of avoiding or surviving a criminal assault by being more aware of your surroundings and risk factors. I want to encourage each of you to bring someone with you to the meeting who has not been to one or been to one recently. There's no cost to come (unless you eat) and Tuesday nights are rather slow unless you are planning to go watch the Metro Council debate raising our taxes. Come a little early and have time for dinner, or just coffee and pie.

The other judical appointments should be of equal concern and with the liberal Congress Obama will have little to no trouble getting them approved.

We've had the same problem in Tennessee. 2nd Amendment supporters should support their state gun organization with the same zeal they support the NRA.

When one considers the number of RINO's in the Senate the filibuster may well be a moot point.

Congrats to MINORITY LEADER Naifeh
Tim Nunan replied to 2000silverz28's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is a very good point. Naifeh was willing to take the hits to stop progun legislation thus allowing other representatives to claim they would have voted for a specific bill but it never came to the floor. Now those representatives are going to have to fish or cut bait. -
Congrats to MINORITY LEADER Naifeh
Tim Nunan replied to 2000silverz28's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Agreed, too many RINO's in the state house, hell the senate too, to presume that Naifeh's control is just going to fade away. Have to remind our legislative friends who let them stay there... contact them and often. -
Then there is the possibility of Executive Order.

During the Fox news report last night, 30 Oct 2008, was a misrepresentation of the Presidential candidates positions on gun control. Stating what Obama has said in speeches that he supports the 2nd Amendment means he is no threat to gun ownership isn't reporting. That was a soft ball presentation covering Mr. Obama's voting history. There is public record of how Obama has voted against gunowners in the state senate. There are numerous examples of Obama declaring his desire to control guns. It appears that the rumors are correct and FOX owner, Rupert Murdock, has decided to go soft on Obama. So much for fair and balanced.

http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2008/OP/OP133.pdf Can a person who has been diagnosed as suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but who has not been adjudicated or hospitalized for a mental illness or because of mental incompetence, obtain a handgun carry permit? OPINION Yes. Under Tenn. Code Ann. ? 39-17-1351©(12), as it is presently written, a person who has been diagnosed with PTSD may obtain a handgun carry permit, as long as that person has not been adjudicated as mentally defective, been committed or hospitalized, or been judicially determined to pose a substantial risk of harm because of PTSD. http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2008/OP/OP133.pdf

State of Emergency Rules on carry?
Tim Nunan replied to JeffsSig's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Who gets to riot if he wins? -
With the large number of anti-gunners already in the House and Senate it won't take long for a bill to be pushed through and signed by Obama while they get the face time deploring the state of economy etc.

Question ABout Socialism
Tim Nunan replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Social Security was never designed to be one's sole retirement fund. SS was suppose to augment one's "good savings habit". It has morphed to its current form because elected officials knew it would get them more votes. -
Many here seem to have forgotten this admonition- "Personal attacks will not be tolerated."

Don't let the expenditure bother you... they're just redistributing the wealth.

I have done it frequently with great results. Used to sell the equipment and ingredients. Just have to be careful pouring as there is often sediment in the bottle. Don't try to reuse screw-on top bottles. They aren't thick enough to stand the pressure. The finished product tastes like European beers which is quite different than American.

Gee, why can't we be more like the Europeans? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article4969312.ece Passports will be needed to buy mobile phones Everyone who buys a mobile telephone will be forced to register their identity on a national database under government plans to extend massively the powers of state surveillance. Phone buyers would have to present a passport or other official form of identification at the point of purchase. Privacy campaigners fear it marks the latest government move to create a surveillance society. A compulsory national register for the owners of all 72m mobile phones in Britain would be part of a much bigger database to combat terrorism and crime. Whitehall officials have raised the idea of a register containing the names and addresses of everyone who buys a phone in recent talks with Vodafone and other telephone companies, insiders say. The move is targeted at monitoring the owners of Britain?s estimated 40m prepaid mobile phones. They can be purchased with cash by customers who do not wish to give their names, addresses or credit card details. (More at link)

http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/10/22/msnbc_teams_up_with_acorn,_la_raza MSNBC has launched a news project with a variety of left-wing special interest groups to boost their Election Day coverage and help viewers experiencing problems at the polls. One of the groups involved in MSNBC's "Election Protection" project is the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now. ACORN has been involved in rampant voter registration fraud across the nation this election cycle and is actively supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama for president. "Our partnership with Election Protection will play a major role in NBC News' 'Making Your Vote Count’ coverage, said Phil Alongi, Executive Producer of NBC News' Election Coverage in an Oct. 22 press release. "Not only will we be able to direct voters who are experiencing problems with a hotline to call, we will also have our team of reporters and producers follow-up on the information Election Protection is gathering." When asked for comment about ACORN's role in the project MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines wrote Townhall in an email "this a question for them, not us." Most of the groups MSNBC wants their viewers to contact and shape their news coverage on Election Day have extreme liberal agendas ranging and focus on variety of issues including housing, gay rights, amnesty, environmental policies and labor. The National Council of La Raza, U.S. Pirg, NAACP, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Law Association, Sierra Club and the Service Employees International Union are among Election Protection's many partners. ACORN is not listed as a partner on the Election Protection's main website, but is listed as a partner on a promotional flyer that is available on the website. These groups actively lobby Congress to support liberal policies. Most of them are openly supporting Barack Obama and other Democrats in the November elections. Election Protection claims to be non-partisan. None of their listed partner groups, however, lean conservative. Daytime anchor David Shuster promoted the effort Wednesday by [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJfFXzmYzx4]telling viewers[/ame], "NBC is making your vote count. If you have a question about voting or problems at the polls, our partners at Election Protection can help. They have trained volunteers available to answer your questions. Call 1-866-OUR-VOTE if you have a question or if you run into or see any problems." Anchor Contessa Brewer has similarly hyped the project. The Election Project features a snippet of her telling viewers about the project on their website. She described MSNBC's relationship with Election Protection as an "exclusive partnership."

Anybody seen this video on Obama's citizenship?
Tim Nunan replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Since the Constitution requires one to be a US citizen for nine years prior to becoming a Senator this should have been determined when Obama first ran for the Senate. -
Over all Doctor Roe presented a conservative platform. - Drill here, drill now; as well as more nuclear power plants, more clean coal use, more biodiesel. - Finish the fence on southern border and make English our official language. - When asked about abolishing the Department of Education Dr. Roe responded that he would never vote for an unfunded federal mandate. - Stated he does not have a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit but felt he may need to carry if he moves to Washington D.C. Was informed that the TN HCP still wouldn't allow him to carry in D.C. which seemed to surprise him. - Will support the right to carry in national parks. - When asked about his opposition to right to carry where alcohol is served he stated that he is still opposed. My wife and I talked at length after the meeting with Dr. Roe on this and he stated that I'd changed his mind on the issue. If true I hope he will say that publicly. - When asked about getting an endorsement from one of the largest anti-hunting organizations, U.S. Humane Society aka U$H$, he stated an ignorance of the anti-hunting position of that group. He also didn't seem to know that U$H$ had no affiliation with his county?s local humane society. Dr. Roe did not repudiate the U$H$ endorsement. Perhaps with further contact with 1st District gun owners and education Dr. Roe will be as good a friend to gun owners as his predecessor. Note: these are my personal observations and other attendees may have interpreted the answers differently.

ISRA Executive Director's letter to sportmen
Tim Nunan posted a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Fellow Sportsman, Hello, my name is Rich Pearson and I have been active in the firearm rights movement for over 40 years. For the past 15 years, I have served in the Illinois state capitol as the chief lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle Association. I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama's attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than does Barack Obama. Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture. While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns. Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Obama also voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month. Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family. Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a "friend" of the law-abiding gun owner? And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger - a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let's not forget Obama's pal George Soros - the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN's international effort to disarm law-abiding citizens. Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people's money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center. Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a "friend" of the law-abiding gun owner? By now, I'm sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization called "American Hunters and Shooters Association(AHSA)" talking about what a swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns. Let me make it perfectly clear - everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting and shooting. That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive private reserves. The AHSA is not your friend, never will be. In closing, I'd like to remind you that I'm a guy who has actually gone nose to nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to identify with this nation's outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants - so long as people are willing to give it to him. That's the Barack Obama I know. http://www.isra.org/
