Subject Matter Experts! .223 Powder.
deafdogdief replied to deafdogdief's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Castor, thanks for the info. Do you have experience with the CFE223? I hear a lot of people talking about it, but I don't know anyone that has used it yet. Looks like the pressures are higher. -
What you said about the su[pported chamber is correct on the early generations. The later generations have changed this. Don't know which gen was the change. Is the kb you are referring to the "kaboom"? If so it probably is b/c of reloading/double loads, or inattention. Unfortunately, most of the tie we'll never know b/c people just randomly post thing on youtube and one can't ask them questons about it. I agree with you, but I don't think I want to venture across this slippery slope!

The stuff they offer can be ordered by dealers in those states. In TN and GA I know dealers can order and P/U themselves.

How would I go about choosing a good powder for .223/5.56? Subject Matter Experts please!

I like the .40 as well. There is one word of caution. If you are picking up range brass to reload you have to be careful especially with this caliber. Some of the cases can be bulged if they are fired out of early generation Glocks. To my understanding the feed ramp intrudes into the chamber and when the round is fired the case can bulge into the ramp. This can be resized and not be a problem according to Lee Precision. The only thing is that if YOU have an early generation Glock you will not want to constanly reload those bulged, resized, bulged, resized loads. The brass will eventually split and that won't be fun. This information is coming from Tech Support from Lee Precision. I'm not making it up!

Me, too!

Thanks for the info, all! I think I'm gonna pick one up tomorrow! (Strikefire)
-
What is the reason for going with a SPARC? I looked at that, too. I am thinking about mounting the strikefire for coyote hunting because I wan to use my AR instead of my hunting rifle. Is either the strikefire or SPARC practical for that?

Anybody have any constructive criticism for Vortex red dot scopes? They seem inexpensive and I am wondering if the quality is like the price.

Sportsman's Warehouse has some 20 round mags for $4.99. They work well with my AR-15. Not sure I'd run them for self defense, but the range would be great. Not sure if they have one of those places where you are, though. The name is THERMOLD. Never had a jam, but still not sure about competing or self defense.

I'm a dork! Sorry!

Am I mistaken here? I thought AR-10 is .308. Do you have an AR-15 or AR-10?
-
You didn't miss out. According to the GLock Annual, the 30's not available in a gen4. I love mine, too. Great piece.
-
I have a G30, which is the same grip as the G29. The thing you have to determine is if you like the grip extending through your palm to the base of your hand. Your Sig probably stops short of this (maybe just past the center of your palm to 2/3 down?). The SF difference seems negligible to me.

Shot the gun a few times since I sarted this and love 'em. I had put a grip on my Sig a while ago and was not impressed. The backstrap didn't seal and the mainspring was exposed. Tried another one on it and the same thing happened. Love the AR grip, though.

Just recently found out about this frame "update" and was wondering if anyone has had this done and if there were any drawbacks to sending the gun in. Glock gives the choice of a random frame with a non-matching serial or a matching with a "1" in front of the existing serial. The matching # would take a good time longer to get back. Anyone had this done and what has the longterm solution been beneficial or problematic? Any benefit of getting the matching # or not? GLOCK Frame Rails

Installed 'em. Love 'em. Now to use 'em at the range:)

R1100R, Thanks for the reply. I have always wanted to get one when I bought my AR. I finally picked one up today. I'll put them on soon. I tried a grip on one of my Sigs but the backstrap didn't close completely and was exposing the spring. I was wondering if the fit seemed good on the AR-15. Not too much to mess up there I guess. Knowing you are a repeat buyer gives me peace of mind.

[Eotech] AAAAAA! Leaking batteries!!
deafdogdief replied to Caster's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
You never know. They advertise for use with medical equipment and firefighters. If you go to them nicely, things may happen. I'll buy this ine off of you at a reduced cost when they replace it. -
Does anyone have any experience with Hogue AR-15 pistol grips? What about the handguards? They feel great, but how are they when they're mounted? (fit and function)

Thanks for the help guys! My friend went with mikegideon's post. I am interested myself. He did say they get a little warmer than the stock ones, though. I think he said that he needed something to help get the bipod a little closer to the gun. I have to see what he's talking about and then come back here with some pics if he hasn't solved the problem yet. Basically put, he loves them and would recommend them.
-
I have a friend that has an full size Armalite Ar-15 (M15). He is looking for an accessory rail to mount a bipod so it doesn't have to be 4 sided. Any recommendations for good price without sacrificing quality? I think he'd be willing to get a 4 sided if the price was right.

Thanks for the help. I am researching all the suggestions!

Anyone have any suggestions on a durable AR-15 tactical bag, heavily padded, good amount of storage, and under $80.00?
