  1. I've bought a gun and a magazine off someone selling on Gunbroker. It was a smooth transaction.
  2. Why anyone who isn't a criminal would choose to spend 8 hours a day working in a prison is beyond anything I can fathom.
  3. My favorite Glock movie line: "That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me! You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it costs more than you make here in a month!" Name that movie.
  4. I've since moved from coke cans and hard drives to eggs and golf balls.
  5. A guy from Tungsten's other board that we both know named Carlton is in the TN Stage Guard. He has something written on his website about it. go to http://www.vcmoore.com/main.html and click About Me, then scroll down.
  6. They probably call us hicks
  7. The history on that whole deal was: -TN didn't honor AL's permits because we didn't think AL's test standards were up to ours.. theirs consisted of paying your county sheriff $20 and walking out with a permit AL in turn didn't honor TN's permit. The only way for a TN resident to legally carry in Alabama was the non-resident Vermont permit which Alabama honored. -Tennessee drafted a bill that would honor any state's handgun carry permit, regardless of whether they honored ours or not. -Alabama, seeing this legislation, decided to honor our permit since we now honor theirs. I think this happened in 03.
  8. I think that would be nice.
  9. How much bigger do you have to buy your pants in order to carry iwb?
  10. Actually it's not a felony, as long as you have a permit just the same as if you were in your car, or walking down the street, and your permit is valid in the state you are carrying the weapon in.. there aren't any laws anywhere that state it's illegal to carry a firearm in a commercial vehicle. I've researched the crap out of that. What kind of weapon were you carrying? The billy club? What happened in your situation?
  11. I have had positive experiences because of telling a cop I was armed, too. Once, in my Mustang, doing 60 in a 35, with the wrong tags, I got pulled over in Wilson county.. It was late and I had just got the car going so I didn't have valid tags for it. I put tags from my other car on it. When I got pulled over I told him I was armed and where my gun is, and also told him about the wrong tags being on the car, and he thanked me for my honesty. He never ran the tag and let me go with just telling me "get your tags, Mr. Havron." And then he drove off..actually they both drove off since two units pulled me over
  12. Well I usually bring a laptop I could be in there right now
  13. Lots of non cops, too. I see it on high school kids vehicles, ghetto thugs, and Mexicans' vehicles, like they think it's going to keep them from getting pulled over
  14. Well I just ordered it, now have another subsrciption that I will never read
  15. Guns & Ammo - 2 yrs for 8 bucks: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=guns+ammo+subscription Shooting Times - 2yrs for 9 bucks: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R10&satitle=shooting+subscription&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1 I'm about to order that shooting times subscription!
  16. I get Guns & Ammo but I never read it. It's like that with every magazine I get these days. I get American Rifleman, too, but again I never read it. If anyone is thinking of getting any magazine subscription, check ebay for it. I have been using ebay for mag subscriptions for about 5 years and they can be as cheap as 1/4 of the best deal from the publisher (for example, $9.99 for 3 years of Car Craft).
  17. I work in that area too.
  18. Where is a good range in Johnson City? I want to take my mom and step-dad shooting the next time I get up that way.
  19. My step-dad is a biology professor at ETSU.
  20. I love German Shepards. She doesn't stay locked in that cage does she?

    Coyotes

Well I wouldn't exactly call this a wake-up call, but a coyote has been spotted in my neighborhood for the first time (that I know of) since I moved here in 97. Now normally it wouldn't be too big of a deal as they are usually scared of people, but my girlfriend recently moved in and she has a small dog, a Pekingese. This dog means the world to her.. I think she loves it more than she loves me Normally when one of us would take the dog out to use the head we would just take her without a leash and let her walk around the yard while we were outside. This evening as we came back from a movie, The Departed which was very good by the way, my brother whom I share a house with told us to be careful because as he was outside with the dog tonight he saw a coyote come out of the shadows across the street with a cat in its mouth. He made a noise as he picked up the dog and the coyote looked at him and froze before hauling ass up the street. I don't live in the country by any stretch, but I know lots of people around here in not just this neighborhood but within miles and no one has mentioned seeing a coyote. They are building three neighborhoods within 1/4 mile of here though and I suspect they are being flushed out of the woods. I don't have much of a point here other than I'll be using a leash from now, and that carrying in your own yard might seem paranoid for some, but really does have a purpose. You never know what reason you might need it.

If the price tag is the only thing keeping you from a Glock, look at used ones. They average around $400 for most models. Find one locally from a private party and you don't pay tax, shipping, or FFL fees. There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying a used Glock.
  24. Well, if the unthinkable happens, and you are involved in a self-defense shooting, you are obviously going to need a lawyer. This is one number that anyone who carries a gun for self defense should have on him. I am guilty of not having this info, which is why I'm making this post. Who do you call? Obviously you don't want to trust your next 20 years to someguy out of the yellow pages. Is there a directory of lawyers who specialize in self-defense cases? It would be nice to have this info if you ever needed it.

If people can't stop from shooting themselves in the ass or leg, they shouldn't be carrying a gun in the first place. Glocks are just fine for whatever you want to use them for.
