  1. Yep, older than dirt
  2. Just something to make them uncomfortable enough to leave before they have time to take a sawsall to the side of your safe.
  3. What I meant by statement... the button says your armed, but the "message" says you normal and armed because of your appearance and demeanor.
  4. Unless you're going to spend a gazillion dollars on a safe, you need extra layers of security. it's too easy to cut thru the side of most safes. I was more concerned about fire when I bought mine. The safe has to be first line of defense in a fire.
  5. I wish the anti's hadn't done such a good job of demonizing guns, but they have. "I'm normal, and I'm armed" is a great message. OC will fly a lot better in some places than it will in others. For example, we live in a Red state, but Davidson County tends to be Blue. Lots of bedwetters in this neck of the woods.
  6. I shot this group off a Rock. Varmint AR at 100 yrds. Not sure what caused the flyer (if it is a flyer). The gun wasn't quite broken in.
  7. You need to center your groups. Sometimes I'll use the trick of moving the crosshair to the bullet hole early on if it's way off. Once it's close, I'll do 3 shot groups and adjust the scope so the center of the group is at the point of aim. The bigger the groups, the more important it is.
  8. I use a Caldwell Rock front rest and a Caldwell rear bag. I also have a Lead Sled DFT, but it's too big and heavy to carry around unless you need it to reduce recoil. It also helps to have a steady bench when you're sighting in. .17 HMR's are usually real accurate. I have a plain Marlin 917S, and it shoots a little under 1" groups at 100 yards. I use the Rock because it's solid, and has decent elevation adjustment. I have a bunch of scoped rifles, and it's alwayes worked for me. There are a lot of options out there. 9. Of course I've thought of that. The NRA will always have a job. They fight to expand our rights every day. They just do it in the real world. It's hard to sway anti-gun folks. Showing them a gun gets mixed reactions. Some are gonna freak out. So the big question is, will one or two screaming bedwetters get noticed more than the quiet nods of approval. There are a lot of ways to get a girl's clothes off. Whippin' out your piece usually ain't one of them.
  10. ... and he may have hit on a great answer. The button/ribbon idea could be a positive move. The NRA is being quiet for a reason right now, and they do this stuff for a living. In my humble opinion, they do a pretty good job of it. Do you really want to risk swinging this the wrong way? We're up to our necks in Chicken Littles right now. Doesn't make sense to create any more.
  11. I have freely admitted to that . I ain't the only one either
  12. Am I a snob if I get all my plastic from Magpul?
  13. None of this crap can move forward without Republican support. So, I guess we're going to see what we really got from the last election. I think it's safe to say that Obama is pulling the strings in the recent ATF actions. It's probably a good thing that he's showing his cards. This is going to be interesting at least, and possibly painful if the Repubs let us down.
  14. Joe, The :poop:storm from this has barely started. It's not about an appropriate mourning period. It's about the fact that every gun grabber between New York and California is trying to introduce their version of gun control laws to the entire US. BECAUSE of the event, more people are listening to them. The only way they can succeed is by having public opinion behind them. That's my view. I am going to be outspoken about it, because it will wind up effecting MY rights too.
  15. That's what I love about TGO. You learn something new every day.
  16. Actually, I think that makes you a gun geezer according to Chuck Hawks. Nothin' wrong with that.
  17. There are brands that I won't own personally. I don't think I look down on people that buy those brands, because it's up to them to fund the purchase, and accept the performance. So, I'm probably not a snob. But, my Bowning gun safe is a total snob. There are a lot of things that just aren't allowed
  18. IMO, you should take Dolomite's advice with more than a grain of salt. When it comes to AR's, he get's it. He helped me wade through a lot of this stuff.
  19. The Bama thing is usually for life. I was raised by one.
  20. M&P's never break. Must have been a Chinese copy
  21. I could post a picture of how to ruin a good rifle, but those kinda things can't be unseen
  22. Yes, it's a nice rifle. It would be hard to do any better.
  23. I really like this idea. The OC debate always brings out strong opinions on both sides. Personally, I believe one negative outweighs a whole bunch of positives. In other words, one screaming bedwetter outweighs all the other people in the room that are fine with seeing your weapon. Regions Bank is one of the best examples. I'm not afraid to tell anybody that I'm a gun owner and permit holder. So... I'll proudly wear the button if there's no threatening language. I'll even chip in a few bucks to get it done.
