They have known about it for a long time. One thing I noticed driving around the Memphis interstates... there is safety cabling on the overpass spans to prevent them from slipping off their piers in the event of an earthquake. The seizmic zone goes all the way to Jackson. i put up a fairly tall tower there, and the city engineer required that it be designed for a seismic zone. Sorry for rambling. I didn't work on any structural projects in Memphis, but I'm guessing it has been built into the commercial building codes for years.

Gasoline and water are the biggies... mainly gasoline. Food shows up, if you can get there. If I was a doomsday kinda guy, I would rathole enough gas to get me out of the region.

It's interesting. I was in Laurel/Hattiesburg Mississippi after Katrina. The place got hammered. The few shootings were over ice and gasoline. For it to turn into a Mad Max scenario, it would have to be more than a multiple state area. Biological is the scary one.

Got the kit, and did the first pass through the videos. Looks like they included the slave pin for the trigger spring install. I was dreading having to drag something up. Just finished assembling an AR stripped lower last night, so I'm waiting for my tedium tolerance level to come back. I'll probably do it tonight. I'm convinced it's really going to improve the gun. I'm paranoid enough. If the entire economic system collapses, we will probably have to shoot our way out. I may do better at that than the current rules

I can't think of any natural disaster in this part of the world that would trigger a SHTF scenario. I've done some disaster stuff. Aid comes from outside the area. As Rightwinger said, total economic collapse would be a possibility. Nuclear holocaust would be another (but real different). If there was total collapse, and the rule was every man for himself, I'm not sure what I would do. I have more than enough hardware to arm a bunch of my neighbors.
