  1. Everyone has their preferences but I'll tell you my biggest regret was not casting my own lead from the begining. What I have spent already just on 9mm (1500)I could have spent on casting to get 500 lead bullets and the rest would have cost me a penny a bullet or less. I do not regret getting a single stage press. Guys with single stage presses and turret presses get a chance to look at every round through every stage if they want to. BTW how do progressive press guys clean the primer pocket and flash hole?
  2. Im curious. What kind of 9mm are you loading for?
  3. Really, just the materials for the loading. Assuming your going to find a way to clean your brass, and there is ways without getting a tumbler. I started with that same kit and bought other items along the way but really don't need them. I haven't found a single pistol casing that has stretched to trim. I'm going to add some things to think about. A loading manual A digital scale(once you use one you'll understand) Calipers Trays or cartridge boxes Case length gauge A hand prime would be nice Extra bushings None of this is required but there items I've thought about or have picked up. I only do handgun calibers currently. Oh you will néed nuts and bolts to attach to your bench.
  4. It's just about a proven fact that the rifle primers don't flatten out as much. I can't find anything that the rifle primers will increase pressure. I can find where the magnum's will but it's between 1-10%. I found that the remington SP and SPM are really the same but mine are Federal.
  5. I may be ok, I got 3000 SP, 400 SPM, and 400 SR. Just trying to plan for the future if I had no SP left. I honestly didn't want to use them on the 40sw but I was reading that the 40's according to some should have had magnum primers from the begining. Others believe that 38spl having so much empty space in the cartridge could benefit from magnum primers.
  6. My 40 and 9mm loads will be for Glocks, I've never had a weak strike even with Monarch and Wolfe ammo but I'd rather use the magnum primers anyway to use less powder.
  7. I'm thinking 180 gr fmj 40sw/ 4.9 grains of Unique/small mag primers/1.13 OAL I've been using 5.9 grains of Unique w small pistol primers(all brands). Does any of these alarm anyone?
  8. Just curious since the shortage of small pistol primers what I should do. I have some small rifle primers and small magnum primers. I was wondering which is the best substitute? Next question is do I use them on 38spl standard pressure, 9mm, or 40sw? I have actually read while trying to research myself that 40sw possible should have small magnum primers anyway but that I may reduce powder charge 5%. Just wondering if anyone has real world experience. It sounds like small rifle primers are the same as small pistol but are stiffer by design and could have weak strikes.
  9. ^. I contacted my source that agreed with what you said. Apparently I got confused because the first auto loading pistols were 38 caliber but the Army requested their new pistols be .45 min. I also thought the grip safety was added after the original design but apparently it was the thumb safety.
  10. Make John Moses Browning happy and get the 38Super. If memory serves me correct, the 1911 was designed around the 38Super.
  11. I've seen them on sale for as little as $299 new so keep that in mind.
  12. The trigger is the biggest complaint you will hear. The firing pin is the biggest weak link. I've seen and heard of them breaking at 100 rounds or not having problems with 1000's of rounds. THP, Decatur PD, and Meigs Co SO used to issue the Sigma 40 for duty use but they have all switched. I don't know of a failure in the field but they did occur at the range.

    357 sig ..

The Gen4 32's have been out for about 3months now.

    357 sig ..

There's a pretty good deal on a 239 in the classifieds here. Your right about the XD 357 Sigs in the service calibers only. Do you have anything thing that can take take a 357Sig barrel? To me that is the way to go.
  15. I fInd my LCR trigger possibly better than my 642. I just tend to short stroke my LCR trigger. I have a S&W model 34-1 that has a better trigger than both but it may have been worked before. Taurus 22 revolvers have some of the worst triggers I've ever felt.
  16. The kit is good but it seems really high in price. It has basically the equivalent items to the Lee Anniversary kit but for twice the money. RCBS probably is a little better quality though.
  17. The two LCR 22's I've dry fired felt like they had a trigger like my 38.
  18. I would love to have one but since I reload 38's it's hard to justify. LCR's in general a pretty hard to beat.
  19. I'm glad to hear someone else bring this up. As a cop I hate the guys that ask what I'm carrying and then tell me they would carry a 45 if they were me. They always include that my Glock 40 doesn't have knock down power. No joke I had a guy say knock down power about 15 times during a 5 minute conversation. When I feel like it I mess with people and act like all I know is I'm carrying a Glock. I told one guy a Glock 22 but I didn't remember what caliber it was. Oh and according to some I'm putting my life at risk carrying a Glock. Point is only the annoying ones care about what I'm carrying so I don't really want them waistIng my time. On forums I get to choose my conversations.
  20. Oh, the advice I was giving is directly related to the CW45 and the P45. I'm not sure on the PM45 but it will take the longer of the kahr 45acp magazines so it may work the same with a 1911 magazine. The TP45 , if you can even find one, is supposed to work with std 8rd 1911 magazines. I have been told Kahr 9mm's can not use 1911 magazines. Your stuck with the Kahr mags.
  21. Of all the 1911 magazines that I know of, using a Kahr follower instead decreases capacity by 1 round.
  22. The county might possibly tell you over the phone if you do have a warrant. Some Counties will and some wil not.
  23. http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=3317 This is what you need to read. Honestly, just stick with Kahr magazines unless you have a 1911 magazine laying around.
  24. The Mecgear magazines are reported to be the most reliable, the 7rd magazines will sit flush. If you have trouble most 1911 magazines need to be filed a little to clear the extractor and will need a Kahr follower, but many people say a 1911 follower works in a Kahr factory magazine.
  25. Yes but some work better than others. I will get you a link. I have used the Kimber mags but had to get a Kahr follower for it to be 100%.
