  1. I really like the look. I think I have seen a similar one on another forum, maybe xdtalk, and good idea on skipping the plastic. What was the purpose of the intentional gouges, worm wood look or well used?

    Ruger SP101 Review

You guys crack me up. They sure are nice looking guns though.
  3. hm less than $75 sounds like a good deal on the night sights. mind me asking where you got them from? i have thought about getting some for my xd, and haven't searched too much but I think i was seeing around $105 for a set.
  4. i've been to the one at meadowview a couple times, it's usually pretty packed.
  5. I had a similar experience (minus the cat and laser light) recently where my wife had already left for night shift and i was about to go to bed when I noticed the square panel that goes up into the attic from the master bedroom closet was up in the attic sitting caddy cornered across the opening. I immediately called my wife and asked if she did it and she said no, and it had been at least 2 months since I had been up there and I don't think I would have left it like that, nor do I think I could have went 2 months without noticing it like that. So, I get my ladder out of the basement, my flashlight, and my Sig and look up into the attic with the gun and light leading the way. I couldn't see anything from the ladder so I got on up into the attic which has the sprayed in foam insulation so you can see footprints, which were there, but looked as from when I had run some internet lines. So I checked from one end to the other to see if someone could have messed with the gable vents or came up through the front porch somehow but nothing had been messed with. I came back out of the attic, put the panel back in place, and took a sharpie and marked the panel and the trim to see if it moves and so far it hasn't. I never figured out how it got moved and it still bothers me when I start thinking about it, but hopefully I did just manage to move it and forgot. We have 2 boxers and just got an ADT alarm system installed last week, so hopefully we will have a heads up.

    Kahr CW9?

try kahrtalk.com, that's where the experts are. i've been considering a cw9 myself
  7. Hm I'm not sure I would say I like taking pictures better than shooting, but I do like taking pictures. Not professional pictures, but I like to take pics during projects and such to compare progress and also to put pics up on the forums. Most of that is done with my 3.0 megapixel camera on my phone, but it takes surprisingly good pictures.
  8. now that's pretty funny. I'm just getting started with 38 specials and haven't shot one yet, maybe this week. I've been saving my 9mm brass and have a little over 1,000 but haven't bought bullets or powder for them yet.
  9. If I may suggest something, you should at least hold and check out the Sig Pro 2022 if they have one available. It is polymer framed (2 oz. lighter) and can be had for $500 or less. But I can easily see why you like the P229 Elite. I don't own a 1911, but I could see myself purchasing something like the Elite before a 1911.
  10. yeah those look nice with the cases still in the air..just guessing you have a pretty nice camera
  11. looks nice indeed..i think i've told you that about some other holsters you've posted before
  12. i've not had much luck finding it around here. i've been thinking of trying to trade the wife's bersa 380 for a 9 of some sort, maybe a kahr
  13. One thing we tried to avoid with our design was using metal tubing horizontally because a glazing bullet could be sent right up over our berm. That stinks OS about getting hit and having a scar. I hope we don't experience any of that, but we do use safety glasses as well. That little thing you posted looks fun with a 22, but there are a lot of various angles on that which could send a bullet astray.
  14. welcome to the forum..i'm fairly new here also and this place has consumed a lot of my free time
  15. welcome. did you get a subcompact xd? now you just need a crossbreed supertuck holster to break in while waiting on your permit
  16. howdy, i'm up in NE TN also
  17. The steel he used is 3/8" thick and we don't shoot any closer than 15 yds out. This target stand was also built for handgun use only. From my observations the most dangerous place is in the same plane as the targets. When the bullets hit the steel the copper jackets just flatten out and fall straight down, but the lead bullet fractures into really small pieces and go in outward directions off the plate. The 4x4's we used for the frame are all splintered with lead, you can't run your finger across them, and after shooting, the ground under the targets look just like the ground off the edge of a house with no gutter, there is a straight line across with dimples in the dirt where the lead hits.
  18. Yeah that would work. The time it fell over, it fell over forwards.
  19. The feet are some conduit (he's an electrical contractor) he had laying around. We took a hammer and beat it flat in the center and curved them some. I think we are going to either make the feet bigger, or add some diagonal supports front and back because we did have it fall over once, hence the rocks piled on the feet.
  20. The other night I helped my neighbor put together this target stand. We used hooks so we can re-arrange or flip the targets when needed, and used pins on top of the two side posts for the top rail just to slip down onto for easy transportation and set up. The targets are 6", 8", and 1' square with the silhouette being 12"x18" with 6"x6" head. The next morning we sent some shots down range. It was the first time I have shot at steel targets and it was a blast compared to paper. I practiced firing quickly, transitioning from different targets, and drawing from the holster and acquiring a target. Can't wait to go shoot some more.
  21. I've got an airweight and I love mine. I was testing my accuracy with it a couple days ago. I was shooting at a 1'x1' steel target 50 yards out and my first 2 shots were a little high, the next 3 shots hit the target with me aiming low center on the target. If you have an airweight I would suggest dry-firing it 500 times or so. After that plus the 200 or so rounds I've shot through mine has left me with a real nice trigger.
  22. Just to comment on Highlander's post, I see your point that after the trigger breaks you may pull the gun slightly downward before the bullet gets moving (milliseconds here), but in the same respect as soon as that bullet starts moving it is going to exert more force on the gun in the upward direction before the bullet gets out of the end of the barrel to more than compensate for the minor downward pull from the over travel. So my opinion, IF there is time to alter sight alignment after the trigger breaks then he would be shooting high due to recoil, not low due to over travel. We bought a Bersa Thunder .380 for my wife and we were both shooting it low at first, but it came down to learning the trigger. It seems to stack through the last bit of pull and it was causing us to dump the front of the gun right before the trigger broke. I would guess the OP's issue is similar.
  23. that's the way i shoot my 442 also. from since i first started shooting the j-frame, that was the most natural hold i could find on it. i actually enjoy shooting mine. after reading on the s&w forum i followed suggestions of others and dry fired the gun around 500 times and it made the trigger much smoother. the recoil isn't as bad as some people make it out to be either.
