  1. I can work a meth lab like a champ but look like an idiot fooling with a diaper.

You probably shouldn't post that on a public forum. I'm given to understand that meth labs are frowned upon in some circles.

I never had a problem with poopy diapers from the beginning. Here's a tip, with the clean diaper, start at the front and wrap around to the back. At least that's the best way with a boy. Never changed a girl.
  2. Leave the fox alone please. They're pretty scarce these days. Probably due to pressure from the relatively recent migration of coyotes to this region. Until recently, I hadn't seen a fox for more than 20 years.

If you're feeling the need to take something out, there are plenty of non-native invasive species to practice on. Coyotes, feral pigs, northerners, stink bugs, floridians, yellow jackets, etc.

  3. Because, as I stated earlier, the 2nd Amendment is NOT about serving in a militia, it's about defending AGAINST a state-run militia. Again, the 2nd Amendment does NOT mean that the right to keep and bear arms is reserved for the militia. It does not say it. It does not imply it. That is an invention of gun-grabbers like Brady and VPC. It clearly states that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." It does not say the right of the militia. There is a reason it is worded that way.

    Yes. Thank you.

On top of that, "why would anyone, who is not qualified to be part of a militia, need a weapon"?

Well, let's see. Self-defense perhaps? Should a 90-year-old, wheelchair-bound woman, who is clearly not militia qualified, not be able to defend herself?

Of course, there are some who would argue that no one should live to be that old and be a drain on "the system", but that's another topic.

    I think.

  4. My laptop recently crashed, burned and would now be a boat anchor if I could find a place to tie a rope to it. Problem is, I don't have enough money right now to buy a new one........SOOO, I am using my IPAD for a while instead of a 'puter. I've noticed that my eyesight, or my hand-eye co-ordination just ain't what it used to be. The IPAD has a touch screen and when I try to open a one line heading type post to read it, it seems that 6 out of 10 times I'm hitt'n ya'lls name that's RIGHT BELOW the heading instead of the post header and BAMMMM!!!!!!!....I'm instanly on your profile page. I just thought I'd clear that up before a rumer got started....LOL..!!!

    Yeah, right. We believe you.

OK, 'fess up. BATFE? Or just a plain ol' creeper?
  5. I have no problem with plowing over a bad guy, or shooting him. But just as one is responsible for a bullet that misses or goes through the target, one is also responsible for running over innocent bystanders. Was the cop sure that there was no little child playing behind that wall?

Yes, it was a bit reckless. He should have shot him.
  6. Here is another little gem of experience.

When bedding a gun you can either bed the receiver and free float the barrel or bed the barrel and free float the receiver. Each way has its own advantages and disadvantages.

A bedded action, where the barrel is free floated, is what you use to squeeze the last bit of accuracy out of the gun. So what is disadvantagepus about that? Well you generally only have one or two loads, factory or hand loads, that perform well and the rest will give you miserable accuracy.

A bedded barrel with a floated action is basically the opposite. You will not squeeze the best possible accuracy out of the gun but it will be accurate with a much wider selection of ammunition. Where your bedded action might have one or two super accurate loads a bedded barrel will have a dozen accurate loads but those loads will generally not be as accurate as a bedded action.

That's a good little tidbit to know. Since I'm not a benchrest shooter and like to shoot a variety of loads, I would bed the barrel. If I were to ever build another bolt gun for hunting, that is.
  7. I don't have perfect recall of handgun laws in the '90s, but I WAS paying attention. I don't recall having a waiting period or background check beyond the fed requirement from 94 til 98. There was some law in the '80s requiring police chief sign-off on handgun purchases. Most likely only those through an FFL dealer. I only know this (I was well under 21 in the '80's) because a couple years ago I found an old form where a local chief had signed off on a purchase.

If it was required for private sales, as Oh Shoot said, it was universally ignored.
  8. Any salt type loads for a pellet gun? I've got two bumbles trying to run me off the deck. Hit one with an Airsoft P226 somehow but just knocked him for a loop before he was after me again.

    Here ya go. http://www.cabelas.com/product/BUG-A-SALT/1848554.uts?productVariantId=3895421&srccode=cii_328768002&cpncode=43-43967597-2&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=BingPLA&WT.z_mc_id1=03921785&rid=20

It probably wasn't bumblebees, though. It is most likely carpenter bees, or "tomjollies" as we used to call them. They don't sting.
  9. I still maintain that the term 'assault rifle' is a legitimate term with a legitimate meaning. The term 'assault weapon' is the anti-coined term that really means nothing. Antis did not coin the term 'assault rifle'. The Germans/Nazi military did way back during WWII (Sturmgewehr translates as 'assault rifle.')

THIS! Except Sturm translates as "storm" and gewehr is of course rifle. But Assault Rifle is a reasonable translation. Same function.

The US military, if I'm not mistaken, has used the term "assault RIFLE" to describe the M16. A lightweight, select-fire, rifle chambered in an intermediate cartridge.

"Assault WEAPON" is a term invented by the left to demonize a type of firearm that looks menacing to them. It was first used in the late '80s I believe. I won't swear to it, though. Just my memory.

So, if someone calls something an assault rifle, they may be correct. If they use the term assault weapon, they're full of it.
  10. There isn't much of anything in that area.

True, but its on a major highway. There is a lot of traffic by there. Anytime I drive to Atlanta or north GA, I take 411. Its faster from here.

I used to stop there frequently on my way down. I've even made special trips when a friend wanted to visit their store. It used to be a destination. But the last few times I stopped, the prices were outrageous. So I stopped going there. Shame too. The long guns are lined up on the walls so they can be picked up easily. They had a nice selection of hand loading supplies. It's a really nice store. Clean bathrooms.

I suspect that when the panic buying dies down (if it ever does), their prices will come back down or they'll go out of business.
  11. I carried a 1911 for 14 or 15 years. On rare occasion, I would find that the thumb safety had gotten disengaged. But with a Series 80 type, the pistol will not fire unless the trigger is pulled, even if the hammer falls off the sear. That is in addition to the grip safety and the thumb safety.

To each his own. I will confidently carry a Glock or 1911.
