I shot the M&P 9L for several years as my primary 3 gun pistol before stepping up to a 2011. I really like the 5" M&P guns. If you get one go for the 2.0 version. I believe it is only available in flat dark Earth currently. It will give you the best factory M&P trigger yet. It is still not as good as an aftermarket trigger job or Apex job but it is not bad at all. I have multiple M&Ps and have been very happy with them. If you are not committed to that platform, be patient and check out the 5" Sig 320 when it becomes available. I discounted the Sig 320 until I finally handled one The Beretta APX has a very nice feel to it but is the new kid on the block so to speak.

screwball09, thanks for the kind words. You and the rest of the class did a great job. You all certainly made it easy from an instructor standpoint. It was a fun class. The AR is a great and versatile platform. I applaud you and your fellow students for your desire to learn more and coming out to get the training. Keep training and practicing. DB

Please forgive my bluntness, it makes for fewer sentences. LOL. Changing to your dominant eye alone will not make you a better shooter. Good training and proper practice will make you better. Now changing to your dominant eye in conjunction with the training and practice will yield the greatest improvement. Cross eye dominance is not preferred but we have little choice in it. It's a non-issue for pistol shooting. Just move your head and use your dominant eye. Now, if you want to be the best you can be with a rifle, shotgun, or bow, use your dominant eye.

As others have stated, I doubt prices will get any lower. If you are concerned about the future availability of an AR, I would go ahead and get a decent one now instead of a cheap bottom of the bucket one. Put off any other gun purchase and get a good AR.

CZ makes good stuff. I have no personal experience with their shotguns and have never squaded with anyone at a match that was shooting one. There is a reason you only see a few pistol or shotgun platforms being used by serious 3 gun competitors. They go with what is proven and works. The benelli has proven itself over time. The beretta has proven itself over a much shorter period of time but is being used by many. The versa max does not see as much use as it has in the past. The stoeger has proven to be solid but in much smaller numbers. whatever you get, make sure it fits you or can be adjusted with shims to fit you. It makes a major difference.

Stoeger MK3 for price. Jerry may run the 930 but he knows how to keep it running. Not many serious 3 gunners run the 930 and I have seen plenty with issues. The shotgun is the one platform you do not want to go cheap with. The Beretta 1301 can be had for under 1000.00 and will serve you very well in the stock configuration. The Beretta is my recommendation.

Always thought IDPA was full of drama queens. If the IDPA crowd spent more time shooting instead of complaining they would be a whole lot better shot. ?

Another useless thread.

Feel is a subjective thing. Fit not so much. Neither have any bearing on accurate casual shooting. But for optimum performance, proper grip and fit are very important. Most people don't even grip a semi-auto correctly so the benefits of an optimum grip and fit are a moot point for them. I have issues reaching the trigger on large framed Glocks and experience significant slide bite when using a proper grip. That is why for me, the otherwise excellent Glock 20 was a no go.

If your hand is large enough, the Glock is the way to go. My hands are just too small for it. i went with the Sig P220 10mm in SAO. Great gun.

UTM makes a civilain round for sale. Not sure if there are any requirements. Haveing tested all the force on force marking rounds on the market, I have found the UTM system to be much better.

Any interest in a Centerfire Biathlon in Tennessee?
DBTN replied to Matt in TN's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
I accept the challenge. May even be able to persuade me to help. -
The training classes at Royal Range in Nashville should be up and running by the spring. The training provided by their head trainer will be top notch. No silly videos or fluff, just good solid foundational training.
-
I have heard the ranges for training should be open by this fall. The retail side of things much earlier.
-
Once their ranges open, Regal Range in Bellevue should have some very good options.
-
As far as I am concerned all guns are always loaded and the guns were in the proper condition for a gun on the hip.

Do him a favor and teach him to shoot long guns left handed. If he ever takes up the shotgun/wing shooting he will thank you. His rifle shooting with aperture sights will also benefit from using his dominate eye and shooting with both eyes open.

In for another year

The place sounds great. The guy they have slated to be the head range guy knows his stuff and will bring a wealth of knowledge.

Thank you. It was a great match.

I have Warren Tactical sights on six pistols. They are my favorite. Great blend of speed and accuracy. No dislikes come to mind.

Ares Aegis Enhanced Belt (My New Favorite "Gun-Belt")
DBTN replied to GlockSpock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have been wearing an Aegis Enhanced belt for about two weeks now. Very nice belt. It is my new everyday belt. Moved away from the Wilderness belt after about nine years. For those of you in the Nashville are, Lifeview Outdoors is now a stocking dealer for Ares Belts.
