+1,000 There are extremes on all sides. It just so happens we are on this side of the fence we all could easily be on the other side based upon our upbringing. Dolomite

Yes, on a retrial I do believe the sentence cannot be harsher but it can be reduced. I just hate it if the family has to go through all of that again. In the most heinous of crimes, like this, the should suffer in the same way as their victims. An eye for and eye. And let the family do it if they want otherwise they could hire a surrogate to do it for them. And as a worst case scenario let the state administer the punishment. Dolomite

We are definitely in for a big shake up as a nation. Things have gotten so bad because people like this feel they can do pretty much anythign they want and get away with it. In reality it is probably true except of the most heinous crimes. They know they can say or even do things and as long as they can justify it to themselves then the authorities give them a by on it. WOW, that is all I can say about the comments. If any of us were to do the same thing we would find ourselves behind bars for being a gun toting racists. Funny thing is when theymake open threats against concervatives it is free speech but when we even question anything about any liberal it is hate speech. Dolomite

I had an issue with mine when I first got it. The problem, which was pretty serious, was this. Every time I typed the word "wife" it autocorrected it to "wide". Not sure why it did but it took a couple of resets to get rid of it. And before it did it led to a few awkward moments as my "wide" looked at my texts. Who else has had an issue with this time saver? reloading question. case growth
Dolomite_supafly replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I trim every 3-4 loadings on my 223. It shoots sub .4" groups at 100 yards consistently. It has also shot enough .2" groups that it isn't a fluke. I guess I need to put that barrel back on seeing how I haven't shot my 7.62x39 barrel for accuracy yet. Dolomite -
The Sport HAS a case deflector but it missing the forward assist and dust cover. The Sport is the best gun available for under $900. And I am suprised they are not asking a lot more because they are great gun with great features. Dolomite

reloading question. case growth
Dolomite_supafly replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If you seperate the steps you can make your brass grow less and last longer. I use a neck sizing die for one step then a body die for the other step. I used to get 4-5 loadings on my 223 brass but now I get much more. Right now I am over 10 loadings without any noticeable problems. Dolomite -
For what most people are going to change both platforms are essentially the same. I mean swapping stocks are both easy. Swapping forearms are just as easy. Swapping grips are just as easy. And although the AK trigger is a little more difficult it isn't that bad. Swapping muzzle devices goes to the AK It is, without a doubt, easier to swap a barrel on an AR. But other than that they are about equal in ease of modifying. Dolomite

And another one bites the dust. Dolomite

That depends on caliber. If it were a .40 or .45 it would have blown up upon firing. Rendering it as well as the agent useless. Dolomite

With an AK the inaccuracy has more to do with crap ammo than anything else. I tore down a bunch of steel cased commercial ammo. ALL bullets were .308" while the AK requires a .311" bullet to shoot well. Another big problem with commercial ammo is the inconsistency of the ammo. It took me 40 bullets before I had 5 that had the same weight bullet. They vaired buy a lot. There there was the powder charges that also varied wildly. When I was overseas we had Afghans hit man sized steel targets at 350 ayrd 7 out of 10 time. But we had quality ammo. And just so you know the AK's were Soviet vintage from the nvasion in the 80's. I do know that one in particular was fated from the 50's and still shot very well. I decided to load up 5 rounds of Tula. I used the same bullet weights and same powder charges. I fired it out of my 7.62x39 bolt gun and it was a 1 hole group at 100 yards. The factory ammo grouped over 2" if I remember correctly. It was at least that big, if not bigger. With that beign said I am an AR guy through and through. Dolomite

Glad you came over. Hopefully Mike followers your lead and sells a ton here. You will find this is the nicest board in the net with a wealth of knowledge for anyone willing to ask. Again, welcome aboard. Dolomite

The reason canebreaker was removed from the board was because of his conduct. Not anything he did on the board but because of what he tried to do off the board. And the board cannot allow someone like him to use this board as a tool for that conduct. I will not get into the exact details of why he was banned but suffice to say he is not someone we want as a member of this board. Dolomite

We had some armor plate overseas that we pulled from junk vehicles and cut into targets. that stuff was 3/8" thick and we shot it all the time with M855 inside of 50 yard with ZERO damage. We could find the steel cores on the ground in front of the targets. I wish I could find some of that stuff over here. Dolomite

Head down to Predator Custom shop. They have AR500 steel targets in their lobby. Shooting steel is very, very fun. From those specs it looks like it might not be AR500, which is pretty much the standard for steel targets. I have 1/4 thick AR500. They will stand up to 223 at 100 yards and any "normal" caliber pistol at 25 yards. Dolomite

And if you want to talk Savages I can PM my number to you. I am almost as knowledgeable about Savage as AR's. Dolomite

With most guns zeroing at 100 yards will be an issue without a lot of down travel. I know I put a 20 moa base on my savage and my scope bottomed out about 2-3 feet above the target at 100 yards. I too though I needed one but for 90% of the shooters out there they do not need or can use the extra moa. Inside of 600 yards you should not need a moa base even with the crappiest scopes. Dolomite

Any Marlin collectors out there?
Dolomite_supafly replied to smokndav's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I will say that the marlin you have is one I had never heard of. And I consider myself knowledgable about Marlins. Thanks for posting it for me to learn something new but sale ads are not allowed by posters who are only members. Dolomite -
RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
Can we just lock this please. I am sure Rebeldrummer will start a new thread for the next sale. I do not want to taint the turnout for the next sale with canebreaker's drama in this thread. Thanks for all your work for David. If you need any further help from me let me know. Dolomite -
RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
I will say that there was a lot of stuff didn't seem right as soon as canebreaker became involved. I can not prove his intentions but my gut feeling is they were not sincere nor honest. And everyone involved got the same vibe. It could that when he realized it wasn't going to be an easy score for him he hightailed back to where he came from. Rebeldrummer is a great kid and did put on a great sale despite the turmoil and confusion canebreaker caused. Rebeldrummer will continue to sell the great stuff that David and his wife has for sale. They are not only selling reloading stuff but most items you would find in a home, including the kitchen sink, yes a kitchen sink! And just for those interested David, the owner, was meticulous in properly storing and labeling everything. Everything I looked at, which was literally thousands of items, was like new. I wish your family well canebreaker but as Rebeldrummer said you are not welcome there. Dolomite -
Seriously, Savage is the way to go if you are a tinkerer. If you like the idea of being able to swap calibers in 10 minutes and for less than $200 then Savage is the way to go. You can have a 223 varmint gun or a gun capable of taking any north American game in less than 15 minutes. If you are one of those who like to just bolt stuff on your gun then get a Remington. Like I said before a Savage generally beats a Remington in accuracy. Now some Remingtons might be some Savages but as a general rule Savage is the one for accuracy. To give you an idea. When I was looking for my first precision long gun. I asked a long time long range competition shooter what was the most accurate gun out of the box. He said that without a doubt it would be a Savage. When Savage started building their model 10/110 they were looking for a way to build a rifle economically. This is why every parts of the bolt is a single unit. Well it turns out their floating bolt head actually improves accuracy. The reason is both of the locking lugs are against the shoulder even if things might be a little off. Now with a Remington and the bolt lugs attached permanently to the bolt you have to generally lap the lugs to get the to have the same contact as a Savage. Another advantage of the floating bolt head is it is easily replaced. I use the same gun for 223, 7.62x39 and 308 and all have different bolt head diameters. The bolt heads for a Savage cost $20 but for a remington you have to buy a seperate bolt which will be at least $150 for each caliber. You can pick up additional factory sporter barrels for around $150 new or less than $75 used. You can pick up heavy target style barrels for around $200 new or $150 used. Or you can buy drop in match barrels made by big name manufacturers for around $300. Dolomite

The real pistol or the pistol AR? I looked really hard at the pistol before buying my 22/45. I have several 22/45's so I am already setup for them. That was a big deciding factor for me. Dolomite
-
And David will beat anyone's prices. Not only that he is a very nice person in general. I have been buying from David for a very long time now. He is an honest guy who offers great prices on great items. He also routinely has stuff no other dealers can get. Dolomite

That he is. Very knowledgeable about S&W pistols especially. I think any gun that has a steel slide or bolt would be a gun to last a lifetime. Forget about any gun that has a potmetal slide and I would shy away from aluminum ones if you have an advanced firing schedule. I am a Ruger kind of guy so that is my preference. And any of the MK series guns will last a generation or two, maybe even longer. Dolomite
