  1. I can't believe it.  The House actually passed it.  I have been very critical of Republicans the last couple of years, and rightly so, but they deserve my thanks on this one.  Even though nothing may come of it, it was still a good vote.
  2.   Everyone is different, but it seems to me that your priorities are a bit skewed.
  3.   You are correct, and that is a biblical viewpoint as well.  If churches and charities will not fill that role, I have no problem with my tax dollars doing it.
  4. You guys will laugh about this one, but I have always loved these guys.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJY7snrUDQI
  5.   Yes and no.  From an academic perspective, raising the debt ceiling does not increase the debt.  However, coming back to the real world, can anyone point out to me when we raised the debt ceiling and didn't actually increase our debt?  I don't know that it has happened.  Therefore, I believe the definition of debt ceiling, in relation to our government financing, should be properly defined as the amount of money the government can borrow to incur more debt.
  6. Just talked to EPB, and they will bump me up for free.  They told me I will need a router capable of handling 1 GB/s.
  7.   Okay.  I am the same way.  I thought maybe you were just weird for a moment.   I am a rabid anti-farter when you are with company, especially when you are eating.  I actually threatened to fire a guy at work over farting.  One of our plant workers was talking to me in my office while I was eating, and he let out this loud and smelly fart.  He smiled and started laughing about it.  I stopped eating and informed him that if he ever did that in my presence again while I was eating, he was history.
  8.   Please clarify, you walk outside to fart when you are alone, or just with company?  If I am with company, even if it is just one person, I won't pass gas (same thing for blowing your nose).  If I am by myself, I don't hold back.
  9. According to our President, raising the debt ceiling does not mean we are increasing our debt.     Geeze that guy is an a$$.  Oh well, I guess there are people out there stupid enough to believe what he is saying.   http://cnsnews.com/mrctv-blog/craig-bannister/obama-raising-debt-ceilingdoes-not-increase-our-debt-though-it-has-over
  10.   Wow.  I would have never thought that Kathleen Sebelius would be a member of TGO.
  11. Yes, Malkin has always been one of my favorite commentators.  She looks good too, which is always a plus.
  12.   You may be onto something Lester.  A government shutdown would indeed please both parties.  Partisan Democrats want a shutdown so they can blame Republicans for everything, whereas Tea Party folks want a shutdown in the hopes that Obamacare will be defunded.  Shut it down and everybody wins.
  13. I am not sure, but I grew up watching Mr. Rogers.  When I was going through my rebellious teenage years, I always hated being called Mr. Rogers.  Now, I snicker when I hear it, but it doesn't bother me.  Actually, I wish had more of a demeanor like he did.   Anyway, I like the avatar.  It is applicable to me, so it is worth keeping.  It might even remind me to watch my tongue (fingers) and mind my manners.
  14.   Are you saying that your a$$ is now so clean that when you fart it is actually a whistle?  :)
  15.   Well, in the article Mike posted, the guy smiling while carrying his shotgun didn't look like a cowboy badass to me, just a plain ol' jackass.  :)
  16.   I see cops all the time at various places I visit.  I have yet to see one walk in with an AR or shotgun in their hands.  I think there is a world of difference between open carrying a handgun on your waist versus a long gun.
  17. Yes, it is a good thing you are not around me because I just got back on my high protein weight gain diet and my flatulence could definitely knock a buzzard off a s*** wagon.
  18.   Ya know, I guess I am guilty of trying to straddle the fence on issues like these.  I always tried to sympathize with the viewpoint of the gun-rights activist.  I have never bad-mouthed that Kwik fellow, and I didn't say anything negative about the guys down in TX who recently open-carried at the Starbucks.  After reading the article and several comments in this thread, I have come to the conclusion that I was wrong.  I should have been criticizing those who have been stirring up controversy.   After viewing those pictures, I can honestly see how everyday common folk would be concerned or frightened.  Walking into a Starbucks with a pump shotgun, like the guy in the picture is total jackassery.  I cannot, for the life of me, understand what purpose that serves outside of some sort of **** measuring contest.  To be honest with you, if I was in Starbucks, which will never happen, and I saw a person walk in with a shotgun like that, I would immediately switch to open carry only because I would be worried about quick access to my gun in case it was someone I had to shoot.
  19.   I would think they are factory blems.  Still, it sounds like a good deal for the price these guys are paying.
  20. I never knew TGO had so many Starbucks patrons.  This might rile some feathers, but my view is that if you don't frequent Starbucks then this really shouldn't be an issue for you.  In my case, I have never been to a Starbucks, and I seriously doubt I will ever go to one.  Therefore, whatever policy they choose really doesn't affect me.
  21.   Your six year old may not a have a problem with my new avatar, but she might not know who it is either.  :)
  22.   Well, you know what they say.  If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about.  ;)
  23. You could look at it this way.  If the activist crowd becomes so upset with Starbucks then they are "free" to open their own coffee shop where like-minded individuals can lounge around in their tactical gear and openly display their largest rifles to the community at large.  I would bet that they would have very few customers outside of that activist base, and they would be bankrupt within 3 months.
  24.   Dave, I don't think anyone on this forum would have thought that about you; it is just not your personality.  Anyway, you are much too cantankerous and opinionated to do that.  ;)
  25. I am out in East Brainerd and have EPB fiber optic service.  It is much better than Comcast.  I already had the 100 MB/s service, I wonder if I can get the 1GB/s for $10 extra too.
