  1. Thanks for the update... Hate that I couldn't make the meeting....
  2. Actually from the majority of post on here recently, most new HCPs are being issued in about 6 weeks or so with no problems.
  3. Definitely appears to violate 39-17-1314. Funny how this is trying to be done in one of the few cities of any size that is allowing carry in their parks.
  4. Bet I can draw with mine and fast as anyone with a IWB and it for sure would have to be quicker than in the purse.
  5. Pretty neat... But I thought (and I could be wrong) that a gun that didn't "look like a gun" was illegal.....
  6. That sign is still required by some of the alcohol laws in TN and what it says is applicable to anyone that might carry and doesn't have a HCP.
  7. So any one that goes to communion at mass can't carry afterwards? If so for how long are they not able to carry?
  8. Yep, they only update Michie's online once or maybe twice a year. Also it is only a refrence, not anything official.
  9. I'm not sure, but I've never thought of it as walk-in type place/office. Since it is really just for processing and not applying.
  10. I hate to hear people have to take a class and pay money to be able to do what should be a right...... But that is for a whole other thread I guess....
  11. I'm not 100% sure, but I think any USB keyboard.
  12. Yep....my kids had their Wii out at their mother's (no internet) they just moved back in with me and we updated it and downloaded the internet channel...pretty sweet. Just going to have to get a keyboard if they use it much for surfing...takes a while to type pointing at on-screen keyboard with the Wii remote..lol
  13. I'm sure as far as CO is concerned your permit is no longer valid in CO, but that doesn't mean TN wouldn't still recognize it. As others said in TN a expired permit is still good if you have the paperwork showing you applied for a renewal before the expiration date. The real question is whether that still applies to an out of state permit being "renewed" to get a TN permit.
  14. But they used to have a say and issued the permits......and that was the discussion going on
  15. I moved this post once...this thread is supposed to be just for notifing members of restaurants that have not posted. See this thread for more discussion on the topic you are talking about.
  16. See this post.
  17. Many new HCPs have been issued in 6 weeks or less lately it seems. I think some of the trouble is they check with the local sheriff of your county(ies) of residence for the last 4 years. The sheriff's have 30 days after the recieve the copy of your application to report on anything they know about it. Factor in mailing time to and from and it is probably more like 45 days. Not sure but maybe the delay is hearing back from the CO authorties. AFAIK there have never been any problems (at least not any major) with sending them back through the USPS. With your picture and address on it, it's not like it would do anyone else much good. Let me assure you that at least in TN the state issuing them is much better than when the local sheriff's did it.
  18. Very interesting... As I'm sure you know I believe it was the "competition" thing as to why LE can no longer unlock car doors. I could see the argument that an officer teaching a class in the PD/SO are competing against other "private" instructors.
  19. If you are not a TN resident, you don't need a TN HCP, your FL permit will allow you to carry in TN. You can still take a safety course anywhere you'd like, you don't have to apply for a TN HCP. Safety courses are offered by independent instructors, not directly through the state.
  20. +1 Also agree that nothing in the law requires the weapon or ammo to be locked in a container, just seperate from each other.
  21. That would be a new suit though, not appealing the ruling in this one. IANAL, but to answer the orginal question, I would think only those named parties in the suit could appeal any ruling made in the suit.
  22. I understand and that was my point, that simply knowing the intent of a sign doesn't make it legally enforceable. AFAIK no one has ever been charged for carrying past any sign.
  23. I can't disagree that the lawyer would say post. I watched something on TV about "haunted" places a while back and one of the places was a club in KY. Someone actually sued the owner over something that happened. The person that brought the suit lost, but after that the owner's lawyer told him to post a warning sign about the place being haunted. Again I agree laws on liabilty definetly need to be addressed....
  24. When I see a sing that says "Managment not responsiable for any accidents" I understand that sign, but I know it's not legally binding. Yes one reason I would like to see something done with the law is I don't like it, but mainly because I would like it to be clear whether it is a violation or not. I understand intent is part of it. There is no doubt what the intent of gun and slash sign is, but that sign alone does not legally prohibit carry. There is no AG opinion directly on point to what "substainlly simillar" is only that the wording is required to be that. I 100% agree on exemption off liabilty for property owners for the actions of HCP holders on their property. However I'm not sure that is the reason most places post, but that is simply my feeling and I can't show any facts either way. Not according to Rep Curry and whatever legal staff at the legislature he had check on it. True enough I guess, although I would hope if was determined that the weapon was not used in the assault or purpossley displayed that you wouldn't be convicted...but a courtroom is not a good place to rely on hope. I'm not going to intentionaly get into a fight with someone while armed, but I'm not going to just stand there and get my a$$ whooped either. ...and no that doesn't mean drawing my weapon.
  25. I agree, but the thought at the time was they did not want to allow carry in "bars" although there is no legal definition of a bar in TN.
