  1. I hear ya It seems the way it ended up it will still prevent carry in stripclubs and bars, if serving alcohol is pretty much all they do (even though there isn't a definition of them in TN) However even with the restaurant defintion...it is going to allow carry in some places that some people may not call a restaurant.
  2. Wasn't that what the curfew and age restriction parts were trying to do? Also as we've siad you can only carry in what is defined as a restaurant. However I will admit even with that wording, there is still room for interpretation. See the two places I mentioned in my previous post. I wouldn't agree with it, but one could make the argument that serving meals is not the principal business conducted in either place.
  3. Probably..... Passed last year.
  4. LOL...ok...I figured it was after I posted.....just been reading so much on this today...it slipped by me....
  5. 39-17-1305 deals with ALL types of alcohol.....but...... You have to remember, in TN not all "alcohol" is the same. There is Liquor and Wine whose sales are are controlled by the state and Beer which sales are controlled by local beer boards. Someone said in another post 90% of places that serve liquor have a restaurant license. But in some dry counties places may only serve beer. But simply serving food does not make it a restaurant in this bill. Seems like I remember years ago, bars buying a microwave and nuking burritos and then claiming they were restaraunts...that eventually didn't fly.
  6. Here are two places that I think many might consider a bar or nightclub even. I have been to both once. In each place the bar is the first thing you see. The Roadhawg is even age restricted. But they both serve food, and liquor by the drink and otherwise meet the definition of a restaraunt...so IMO it would be legal to carry in these places. 412 Grill, Parsons, Tn. Road Hawg Saloon - Dyersburg Tn - BIKES-BABES-BEER
  7. Since they don't' serve alcohol it's not really releavant....but what about that definition do you think means McDonalds isn't a restaurant?
  8. Well...you can carry in a "bar" as long as it is a restaurant as well. From the bill...
  9. Glock is right...now The senate version and what passed the house today contains a definition of a restaurant. It only allows carry in a place that serves alcohol for onsite consumption by those with a HCP in a place that meets the definition of restaurant as defined in the bill. So if a place does not meet the requirements of that definition, you can not carry in there. You don't need a definition of a bar, because in general it is till illegal to carry in a place that serves alcohol for onsite consumption. This bill did not do away with 39-17-1305, it just added an exception. The new exception being someone who has a HCP in a restaurant.
  10. Oh...are you talking about the sign in T.C.A. 57-4-203(k) If so this is only a warning sign as to what the penalties of illegal carry in a place that serves alcohol for onsite consumption are. It does not prevent carry. To prevent carry a place will have to post per 39-17-1359. It is likely the legislature will leave 57-4-203(k) as it is since if someone does not have a HCP the warning contained in that sign would apply.
  11. You are right...the conference committee report is what the voted on. But the house conference committee majority report was the same as the senate bill, no curfew, no age-restriction and starts June 1 The senate never had the age restriction as far as I know.
  12. What new sing? If a restaurant wants to ban carry they will have to post a sign per 39-17-1359 like any other place.
  13. Well.....other than you can't drink....
  14. Yep......that's the way I figure it....
  15. I didn't say that......
  16. That would be my guess as well.... So where are we all metting up on June 1?
  17. Well unlike on the Federal Level and in some other states.....it only takes a simple majority to over a veto by the Governor in TN. So unless there is some sort of major change of opinion or if the Governor just wants to take a stand...there is no real reason for a TN Governor to veto a bill that passes.

  19. Kudos to Cobb Says he is personally against it...but his constituents want it...so he is going to vote for it...
  20. I'm hoping some of these are just trying to get in their last shots. I could be wrong, but I really doubt anything said today will change anyone's vote.
  21. No Minority Report was filed!!! Clerk says if this does not pass, it could go back to conference again.
