  1. Correct Pro 2A/Carry bills have seemed to do real well in the Senate though...so hopefully shouldn't be problem.
  2. +1000 As much as I don't like Nafieh....I had to really agree when he said the one member either wasn't listening or couldn't understand about the one bill.
  3. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/political-issues/20901-hb0959-passes.html
  4. HB0959 to make information for HCP applications and renewals private passes!!!
  5. Not sure.... I sort of figure it might be the last thing since it would have been added so late. They are on item 5 of 25 of the regular calendar now....
  6. ...and if they ask that I would say, "I was involved in a shooting." That would be enough information for them. Also that statement wouldn't seem to imply anything one way or the other.
  7. I believe that is correct. The senate version had a go in effect date of June 1 and the House majority report was to accept that version.
  8. Not getting too far ahead of things...but, looking back at the House votes on this bill, the original bill, motion to nonconcur, suspend the rules, refuse to recede...and who voted on each side of those motions..... Well.....anyway...it's just amazing what it has taken to even get to this point. Also...it is hard to believe that what seems like such a basic issue could cause some of the most underhanded type politics to come out......
  9. Why in the world would you be making statements to the medical people about the details of the shooting?!?
  10. I think that is basically correct.
  11. The conference committee report will go back to the floor of each chamber as the version the committee recommends to pass. Then they will vote on it. It did seem like legal said, there could be a motion to substitute the minority report for the majority report. Hopefully that would fail....the only thing I'd be worried about is some of the Reps knowing what they were voting for exactly if that happened. With any luck the House will vote on it this afternoon, the Senate (where it has passed, twice basically) will vote on it Thursday.
  12. The motion was to accept the Senate Version. For the House conferees, Yes....couldn't hear the Senate Vote for sure. The two House conferees voting no were Armstrong and McCord. It seems they want to issue a minority report as well. Also my most humble apologies to Rep Todd....he said he was always for a clean bill. He had just simply agreed to carry the bill that came from the summer study committee, and that bill came with the restrictions.
  13. Hmmm.....good point and that could be it. Back in 1990 part of my area was the river shore. I was suppose to actually go up and down the shore to see if anyone might be living in some sort of structure there.
  14. I too had a census worker come by. She simply dropped off a information sheet of what is to come. In 1990 I delivered question packets to houses I WISH they would have had and used GPS back then. I'm not sure I'd compare them to a LEO as far as coming on your property, but yes, they are, BY LAW, allowed to enter and exit your property. See Section 223 of Title 13, Chapter 7 of United States Code. Although I admit roaming the back yard does sound a bit suspicious...and if he felt he was authorized to be there, he should have said that instead of ignoring the question. Also...it is illegal to ignore or give false answers. See their FAQ
  15. Welcome
  16. The name of the committee and time is right. I would guess it's possible the could change the room. Maybe they will post an agenda soon.
  17. Well....to be honest I didn't even realize it was Memorial Day weekend when we talked about it. But I didn't have anything else going on anyway.
  18. As far as carry in a posted location...you probably could be arrested or cited. I too believe it is a Class B misdemeanor based on the $500 fine, however I don't think there is any jail time associated with a conviction. 39-17-1359 doesn't mention jail time. While signs requirements for schools (39-17-1309) and parks (39-17-1311) mention both fines and jail time. Other off limits statutes simply mention that a violation is a Class __ misdemeanor within the code. So I would guess a judge has the discretion to impose whatever judgment he wants (fine and/or jail) up to maximum in those cases.
  19. Unfortunately they have no time limit to issue a renewal. If your permit has expired or is about to they can send you a letter and/or receipt to carry with your expired HCP that makes it legal to carry until the renewed permit arrives. Call again and ask them about the letter/receipt. But back to the 90 days on new permits.....AFAIK there is no real consequence if they don't issue one within 90 days.
  20. So where are we meeting up tomorrow morning so we can sit on the conference committee meeting? Actually I've only been to Legislative Plaza a couple of times. Had the tour once and met with my Rep. One other time I did sit in on a sub-committee meeting. Really interesting place. If I were a bit closer and parking in the area was better, I'd probably go fairly often. If you do go....don't forget to wear your TGO cap.....
