They can posses a handgun under certain situations. See this thread.

Other than if you kill or injur a bystander or damage an innocent party's property. Then you can be held liable to them. But other than you are right, they can not recover. In fact the law even says the person who brought the suit is supposed to pay your lawyer fees, any lost time from your work and other expenses associated with defending yourself in the lawsuit. Now, it's doubtful you'd ever actually get any money from them, but hopefully if their lawyer knows all of this it would help stop him from filing a frivolously lawsuit.

I watched the whole show last night. Overall it was fairly balanced on presenting both sides. But I couldn't help but to feel a slight amount of sarcasm or something the narrator's voice when talking about the pro- side. Like most shows like this...doubt it changed anyone's mind from whatever position they had.

Traveling while Concealed Carry ?
Fallguy replied to Bloodbought1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You can carry in all of those states. You can check Handgunlaw.us for specifics on off limits places in each state and if you must notify an officer etc.. -
Handgunlaw.us is also a good place to check on Federal law and laws of all the states.

To be implanted in Collectivists/Communist/Terrorists foreheads from a great distance by God fearing, hard working, freedom lovers. When properly done, will allow the implantee to speak/commune to God/allah instantly. Comes in various sizes: The exact size of the implant will be selected by a well-trained and highly-skilled technician. The implant may or may not be painless. Side effects, like headaches and nausea, are temporary. Some bleeding or swelling may occur at the injection site.

I agree....I wasn't sitting in the Jury box, but from what i have read, I wouldn't have convicted him either.

If by this part you mean the part of the code you quoted, it means it is illegal to carry a firearm, a knife with a blade over 4" and a club. If you carry one of this things and are convicted it is a Class C misdemeanor, unless you carried in a place open to the public where at least one other person was present, like a convenience store, movie theater etc... then it is a Class A misdemeanor It is less of a crime if they catch you just walking down the street, but if you in a place with people it is a higher level crime. You may also see the term "this part" in other areas reading the T.C.A. this because the T.C.A. is divided into Titles, Chapters and Parts (and divisions and subdivisions below that) Like 39-17-1307 referenced above is from Title 39 (Criminal offenses), Part 17 (Offenses against Public Health Safety and Welfare) Part 13 (Weapons)

Best I remember around the time frame you are talking is when they were electronically scanning applications into the system, they throwing the paper ones away. But turned out they had a problem with the software and many applications were lost and with no paper backup. I believe they are now keeping the paper copy while working on the software problem. Judging by the speed that many of the permits applies for in the last few weeks are being issued, it would seem they have worked out several problems.

Yes, as Warbird said, whether to allow it or even package liquor sales is up to the local city or county. But a license to sell liquor is issued by the state and falls under state rules. While a license to sell beer is issued by a local beer board, usually the city council or county commission. Just one of the reasons you can't sell beer and liquor in the same building in TN.
-
I did overlook it, my bad. As far as being approved or not, I'm not sure if I have that ability, but if I do I'm not sure how. I think the software is supposed to do it automatically.

The law does mention LEOs, Military personnel as well as EMTs, but not one armed persons. But even that does't seem to cover carry.

You must have at least 50 post on the board before you can post an ad in the Trading post.

Warbird I agree with you that the TRA's arguments don't hold water. I just was pointing out how TN regulates the sell of liquor and beer differently. My questions about the 51% is because I know there are nightclubs in Jackson that sell liquor by the drink and beer, but also sell burgers etc.. cooked on the grill. But I doubt the sell of those burgers is anywhere near 51% of their income. But granted they are not considered a restaurant. But there are also VFW's, Elk Lodges, Moose Lodges and other places that sell liquor by the drink and may serve food and again a few I know, I doubt 51% of their income is from food.

The funny thing is, why even have a poll? The DOI has made their decision already.... sort of a little late...

Very good stuff...not sure how many you meant as a joke, but to me all except 3 are real considerations to me. Wait a minute...after thinking about it a bit closer.....3 is too.

Informing a LEO that your carrying, at a traffic stop
Fallguy replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This thread started with one "Hot Topic" and now has a second one in it as well. So of course people have strong opinions and may even get a little emotional or defensive if they feel they are being attacked. So let's just make sure we don't attack anyone personally. If you have a different opinion than someone great, post it and your reasoning behind it. Then we can debate the issues, but not the person. Granted someone's experience or lack of can be a factor in their opinion. Some may give more or less weight to the opinion because of that, but it doesn't mean someone's opinion doesn't count. -
Too funny!!!! I really like the part about using the search.

Informing a LEO that your carrying, at a traffic stop
Fallguy replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I think you'll find varying opinions from LEOs on this just as on the original topic of this thread. Although I would wager the vast majority will say they are not a good idea for variety or reasons. I don't not think the simple act of having or wearing a HCP badge means you are trying to impersonate a LEO. I think it takes some other overt action. However, there is no doubt that 99.9% of the public that sees the badge is going to think you are LEO. My main argument against them is, they promote the idea that only LEOs or those with a badge should carry in public.
