  1. I haven't gone to Old Hickory Mall in a long time and have no real desire too. It seems I have read on other boards where they have dealt with HCP holders in the past. I'm sure they found out simply having it on their code of conduct was not legal. Sounds like they are trying to become legally posted, even to the point they don't want you to carry in the parking lot. But doesn't sound like they have quite got it right yet. But they only have about 5-6 parking lot entrances so doesn't sound like it will be too hard from the to finally get it right.
  2. Welcome
  3. I have just done this twice in the last few months. Other than the "Basics" some things I checked that have not been mentioned were Availabilty of High-Speed internet Which school district a certain house was in.
  4. Thanks for the link. Indeed "Butterfly Knives" are not switch blade knives and are not illegal. I will keep this case book marked.
  5. That is my point....those things are either not against the law in NY (Pretty sure carry where alcohol is served is not) and/or at the very least he is not being charged with them. He was in NY, not TN, you shouldn't apply TN law as to whether you think he should go to jail or not. Now granted NY and NYC have a permit system and if he would have had the proper permits he would have been legal. But there is a big difference between places like TN and other states that are shall issue and places NY and others that are may issue to the point they are almost non-issue. Again I am not saying he is innocent, just it seems some people want him to go to jail for doing thing that are illegal here or even just because of the way he dresses. Instead of what he is actually being charged with.
  6. Do a search, you will find several long threads on the subject.
  7. Lucky...you need to get one more specific for TN. :)
  8. +1
  9. Sort of feels like more people are wanting him to go to jail for not carrying in a proper manner resulting in a ND and/or carrying in a nightclub than what he may go for. Which is simply having a handgun in his possession, something many of us do everyday. As I said, he broke the law and I'm sure he knew he was and he should have to face the consequences. But if TN tried to pass the same law here that NYC has how well do you think it would go over?
  10. I believe you are right, if you have shown it after July 2005 you would not have to show it again. But even if you renewed in July 2005 you wouldn't have to renew for another 7 months. So anyone that has renewed in the last couple of years should have had to show it for that renewal since the previous one would have been prior to July 2005.
  11. I knew when I typed out a long version of that joke (post 30) it was too long and no one would read it...lol
  12. Correct, Class B Misdemeanor based on the $500 fine. 40-35-111(e)(2)
  13. Actually after thinking about it a little bit....it should be easier, but doesn't mean it is. Parent's just aren't cool usually.....
  14. Yes some kids do look up to them. But I think it would be easier to try and teach the child right and wrong yourself rather than to try and change the behavior of an over-paid, spoiled adult, was all I was trying to say.
  15. Shouldn't the contraction of "you all" be "y'all" not "ya'll"?
  16. As you can see there are many varying opinions, even among LEOs. By informing right away you may make an issue out of something that otherwise would not have been. If you don't inform, the officer runs your DL, finds out you have a HCP, ask you if you armed and you say yes, you may get a lecture that you should have informed him right away (although you legally don't have to) So at the end of the day, you just have to make the decision at that time based on the circumstances at that time. I hope when you say you were "taught" to inform right away that you weren't told it was the law you have to at least. Here are a couple of other threads with a similar info if you want to read them. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228 http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1196
  17. Granted Anti-'s can be small minded, but I don't think even they would think all that own a particular make of weapon are all the same. They may end up being role models, but by no means are the supposed to be role models. Not sure anyone but parents are supposed to be role models for their children.
  18. I do agree his actions are what convicted him. But it is also correct the DA made and issue of the type of weapon he had, even if it played no direct roll in his conviction.
  19. Showing proof of citizenship was supposed to have started in July 2005 http://tennessee.gov/safety/handgun/renewals.htm
  20. Hmmm...seems like the was left out of the list. Cross posting from other forums or mention responses from another forum. Also left out. 3 to start separate threads about the same light bulb without doing a search to see if there was a thread started already.
  21. LMAO...that is so funny......and so true.
  22. I am reminded of two things. Has anyone seen Evan Almighty? At one point when Morgan Freeman (who plays God) was talking to Evan's wife he said (or something close to this) "When you ask got to make your family closer, do you think he simply does it or does he give you the opportunity to become closer?" and other similar things that he gives you the opportunity to make things happen that you want, not just making them happen out of thin air. Also a joke that I'm sure most have heard. There was a flood coming in this one town, the water was rising and evacuations began. As the water rose this one man had to climb upon his roof to get out of the water. Finally a rescue boat came by. They told him, "Come on, get in the boat and we will take you to safety." The man replied "No, My faith in God will save me." The water continued to rise, by this time there was only a small patch of roof left that wasn't under water. Another boat came by and again they called out, "Come on with us now! If you don't' you will surely drown." Again the main said "No! My faith in God will save me." The water now had the roof totally covered. The water was just below the man's head as he stood on the roof. This time a helicopter came by. They yelled at the man. "Climb up the ladder and come to safety. If you don't you will surely drown! We are the last rescuers going out this evening." For a third time the man yelled out. "No! I have no fear! My faith in God will save me!" Well, you guessed it. The water finally rose high enough and the main was unable to tread water long enough and drown. Once he gets to Heaven he ask to see God. God meets the man and the man says, "O Lord, why did you forsake me? As the water rose and rose and my life was in danger my faith in You never wavered. Why didn't you save me? The Lord put his arm around the man to comfort him and said, "My Son, I love you very much. I sent two boats and a helicopter for you. Why didn't you get in?"
