1. hey guys need your thoughts on a scope for 300 to 600 yard shooting. just bought a rem 700 adl in 308 and  am replacing stock with a rem m40 bdl from red hawk rifles with conversion floor plate. plan to also install a harris bipod. any suggestions on a good scope would be appreciated. i would like to keep scope price around 500.00 not including mounts. have not done any long range shooting so your thoughts on reticle would also be helpful. is a bullet drop reticle helpful in this situation. thanks in advance for your input
2. i would go with the glock. ease of maint.- after market parts - glock perfection. also you can go to glock in smryna ga walk in and they will clean, inspect, repair and upgrade if needed all at no charge while you wait. i'm sure m&p are fine guns but may come down to what you can find at this time.
3. http://cesafes.com/   ck out this link. a good vid.
4. thats what makes america great, the freedom to do that to a m1a. that said just because you can doesnt mean you should.
5. i think a house gun should have both night sights and a weapon mounted light/laser combo. All my Glocks 19,23,21 and hopefully 26 after christmas wear truglo tfo sights. they glow great in the dark but i like them best in the daytime. they jump out and catch your eyes in day better than any other sight ive seen. i think the house gun should also have a laser/light combo for target identification. im not shooting anything i cant identify. one of the rules of gun safety. the laser doesnt add any weight and in the dark the red dot can be put on target from any position. i picked up a streamlight tlr-4 from midway usa for 109.00 on sale through december. if money is an issue i would go with the light/laser combo first.
6. i decided to go ahead and pull the mag disconnect. Glock is my primary carry weapon and feel all my guns should  have the same features. Hopefully i'm getting a g26 for christmas and that will become my truck gun. Thanks to all who responded i appreciated the input. I watched several videos on how to remove and most struggled with a screwdriver to put the trigger housing back into the frame. I found the use of a .025 feeler gauge worked great. it doesnt slipped off the hammer catch and allows the housing to go all the way into the frame before removal. Merry Christmas to all
7. I'm new to reloading and thinking of taking 4 hour class at Lebanon gun shop. Just wondered if anyone has taken that class and if it would be worth the 100 dollars. I plan to load 9mm,40 and 45acp. They show you how to reload a 38 special but i suppose the basics would apply to the calibers i want to reload? If anyone knows of a better class any where i would be interested in knowing about it. 8. As a larger guy myself i am sold on crossbread holsters for iwb use. I can wear them all day at the 5 o'clock position i forget i'm carrying a glock 23. With the try it for 2 weeks trail period you owe it to yourself to give one a try. I wouldn't chose the combat cut as i do that myself and save the 10 bucks. For owb i like tauga leather holsters. I use the open top style and find they hold close to the body with excellent gun retention. The key to comfortable concealed carry however is the gun belt. I use Gould and Goodrich belts i purchase at Greenes Military. The key to any good gun belt is a thick leather with a plastic insert sown in. This type belt keeps the weight of the gun from sagging and can make even a lesser quality holster work better.
9. As a mechanic with 34 yrs experience i dont want auto lubes on my glocks or long guns. I have seen what the additives can do to plastic connectors over time and its not pretty. I'm not sure if polymer will react the same way but not willing to risk it on my guns. As for wheel bearing grease it tends to thicken up at colder temps so could make gun cycle slow. Other members seem to be using these lubes with satifactory results so my suspicions may be misguided. I have recently changed my cleaning products to Butches Bore Shine for the bores and mil-comm lubes. My reading indicates that Butches is not caustic and I find it cleans fowling and copper from the bore very well. My long guns then get lubed with Mc 2500 as needed and run better than ever. My glocks bores are cleaned with Butches and lubed with Mc 2500. All other lube points get TW25-B and they run and cycle better than ever. I have also noticed the lube stays were you put it and does not seem to collect as much holster crud as past lubes. Hope this helps
10. I am debating removing the mag disconnect on my ruger lc9. This is my truck gun so will have self defense usage. In the event of a self defense shooting, what do you all think about any legal ramifications might be?
