So what do you think of the College Football Playoff system?
maroonandwhite replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
Yeah I got scared when Dak started limping but hopefully he shows out against Arkansas and puts my mind at ease. I am wondering at what point my Ole Miss friends will concede that we are the real deal. I will admit they made me a little nervous in the KY game. -

I think 8 would be the magic number. -
Just curious what you guys think of the new playoff system. Seems to be lots of grief coming in since 3/4 of the current brackets are SEC teams. I am excited that my team is on the top (for now anyways)! I never quite understood the BCS system but I do think this one seems to be better. If anything I would have hoped for a larger pool of teams similar to the way basketball does it.

I'm not sure what medicine messed him up but I have pretty bad allergies and take an off brand Claritin EVERY day along with Nasacort daily until I don't need it. I used to get 3-4 prescriptions of Flonase a year but got tired of going to the doc for each refill. Nasacort is OTC and is a corticosteriod. I believe it is just a lighter dose. Being a steroid I wouldn't recommend taking it year around but it's good stuff. Hope he feels better soon.

Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer

It's easier on something like that though. If I know I can buy a replacement part I'm OK. -
Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer

I may try it anyways. Can't hurt to have some of that stuff on hand. Now that I'll have a workshop I can start acquiring these things. :pleased: As another note when I had this thing apart I used the white stone from my sharpmaker to polish up the internal parts and finished it off with some mothers mag polish. It didn't change the felt pull weight but man did it smooth it up. I am now contemplating a new spring kit but don't know if I need to go lighter since I just cut half of the hammer off. -

The overall job; not very hard. That first cut however..... :ugh: -

I have been assuming that cold blue would help prevent rust but looking online it seems that may not be the case. Will it help at all? If not I may just leave it shiny. -
I didn't realize it mattered with propane. Does an indoor/ventless burn differently or something?

Same thing happened to my inlaws. Weird for sure. That hdmi must be a more sensitive connection. We added ground rods and a dedicated electrical circuit for the tv and it still did it. They are just using standard definition now with no problems. Other than standard definition.

I am currently just running a surround system in 3.1 without the surrounds. The surrounds are so much work and my new house won't be shaped right for them either. You don't get much from them anyways unless you watch movies a lot.

So would an oil type heater be more efficient than a propane?

Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer
maroonandwhite replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I started by getting the largest part off with the hack saw followed by shaping with a grinding wheel. I shaped it more finely with the dremel and finished with fine grit sandpaper and mothers mag polish. I like the shiny look but will probably get some cold blue to finish it. -

Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer

Well I went ahead and did it. I could have done a better job with the right tools but for this utility gun I am happy. Let me know what you think! -
Man it hurts too bad if you hit a finger!

Oddly enough there are no roof vents or an attic access on the detached garage at this new house. I will be remedying that soon though.

Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer

Good idea. Don't know why I didn't think of that. -
I will FINALLY have a workshop area at our new house but it is not heated or cooled. It is however insulated so I am thinking of getting a propane brick heater of some kind and making a rolling stand for it. I could just go buy another propane tank and not only heat the workshop but have a backup heat source for the house if the power goes out. Anyone with a similar setup please chime in and post pics so I can get some ideas.

Bobbing a J-Frame Hammer

I actually just don't like the way the centennials look with the hump though the main reason I'd have a tough time trading is the finish on this one is peeling along the backstrap area. From what I've read that's just a clear coat and pretty normal but I would guess I'd have a hard time trading it. One of the special edition models has a polished hammer that looked nice but I'm not sure how hard it would be to polish. Would this be an expensive job at a gunsmith? I plan on calling around but I hate to ask someone to quote something over the phone like that. -
I have decided I am going to bob the hammer on my 637 J-Frame. I have tried to adjust to covering the hammer with my thumb when drawing but I'd just rather be able to get a full firing grip on the gun when drawing. I believe this is something I could do myself pretty easily but I just wanted to see if anyone on here has done it themselves. If so I have a few questions: How much did you remove? Did you reblue the hammer or just polish it? Any light strike concerns? Dremel or hacksaw? Also I am not against taking it to a gunsmith but I have no idea what they charge for that and I don't want to spend alot of money on it if I can do it.

That's too bad man. Glad you didn't get taken on it though. I wish my playing ability warranted the Strat I have!

Cleaning smoke smell out of house (wall cleaning solution)

I have looked at the Ozone generators. I hope I don't need that but if I can't get the smell out I may just buy one. -
Cleaning smoke smell out of house (wall cleaning solution)

Dang it guys you are telling me what I don't want to hear. I HATE painting. I'll have to discuss it with the wife and see about painting now. Having to Kilz the whole house it what I hate the most. I guess it doesn't have to be a perfect cut in job though on the primer. -
Cleaning smoke smell out of house (wall cleaning solution)
maroonandwhite replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
Oddly enough when I was in college we smoked in our apartment but was able to remove 90% of the smell by running an air purifier and cleaning the carpets and furniture. Did not even touch the walls. Luckily I have the advantage of having all new smoke free furniture and belongings. My wife is a cleaning MASTER so I have no doubt it will be as clean as humanly possible. What would you guys recommend we use as a cleaning solution? Some online suggested vinegar and baking soda but if I recall don't most 3rd graders use that combo to make bubbling volcanoes? Ammonia and vinegar would seem to be a good combo but I don't know if it will hurt the paint.
