  3. Speaking of loss of personal information:   A few years ago, I had all my personal  and medical information stolen when a Blue Cross Blue Shield laptop was ripped from a car in Chattanooga. Since then I have paid about 9 bucks a month to Equifax for added credit security.  When I tried to get a new credit card last year, they called me on the phone and asked me  info I had no idea they had to see if it was really me.  I  get E-mail notices when a credit card balance increases or decreases by a certain amount, set by me.   They also notify me when someone runs a credit check.  It's worth the peace of mind to me. Disclaimer :  I am not affiliated with Equifax nor do I profit from any of the above information.
  4. I'm locked in for the winter, so I've been reading some.  I just finished "Dragnet Nation" by Julia Angwin.  I always wondered about all the tracking and data gathering that goes on on the internet.  I quit FaceBook after this read.  I also stopped using google search, as they save your search info for years.  Even TGO has trackers imbedded in it.  One is Google Analytics.     DuckDuckGo is a search engine that doesn't store your searches. A free track blocker is Ghostery.  All of these were actually vistited by the author and seem to be legit. Unfortunately most of our info is already being sold back and forth.     I'm on a roll and have a couple more recommendations.   "Dangerous Personalities",  Joe Navarro. My wife read it, and says I fit the profile,  but she didn't leave.     "What Every Body is Saying"  Joe Navarro. Good one on reading body language.. After this one, I watched a ton of 48 hours so I could watch suspect interviews.   Interesting read.   "The Gift of Fear"  Gavin De Becker. This is about how our reptilian brain  protects us if we are aware and listen to it.  I thought it was good. The wife said it was a bit long.   I did learn that there is a BIG difference between fear and worry.     I was able to check these out from the Linebaugh public library in Rutherford county, by putting them on hold and grabbing them when they came in. So they may be available for free at your public library.   Happy, Safe Holidays to you and yours.   Soapy
  5. So Sorry for you Bro.  That happened to  a musician I know, and he found his stuff for sale on Craigslist, and was able to get it back.  Best of luck on getting yours back.
  6. She's the one that called me and told me what happened. N the first thing I said was,  have him call his cell provider and track that phone.  She said,  how am I going to that dumbass, they stole it.   I didn't even bother to ask her how he called her.  I'm surprised she even called me, cause she's  mad I'm a smart ass.   She was sitting outside her home in the shade one day this summer, with the garage door open, gun in the house, and the police tackled this thief  that was runnin from the law, in the yard right behind her house.  Now this ole gal is loaded. She's got a Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, and this ole truck she screwed me out of sittin in the drive.  She calls me all excited, telling me what happened.  I said, "Did you have your gun?  OF course not, cause she's stupid.  so I said,  " Well, good thing they caught him before he turned the corner and saw you, or he would have stuck a gun in your ear and said,  " WHICH ONE OF THESE MF's RUN?" and you would have been without a good truck." She said, 'F you Soapy", and hadn't talked to me until yesterday. Since then I've learned not to pi** a woman off like that, cause some of em will call your dam wife. They can be some Vengeful creatures.
  7. Naw, he don't carry a gun.  He asked me one day?  Do you carry a gun? I said  Carry a gun?  Who carries just one gun?   I'm with you, if his girl had been with him, they would have had a purse with a gun also. She's not that bright.  I mean, she gave me some once, and then took me out to eat. When we got to the restaurant and started to get out of the car, she looked at me and said, "have you got your gun?"  I said, " I'm awake ain't I?"  She said,  " Well put it under the seat."  I said, "take me home." I mean  it was good, but it wasn't that good.  Thats why I passed her on to my friend.  I'm good to people like that.
  8. Now before you start cryin and git your powder wet, I'm just kiddin.  I write slogans for billboard signs for a livin, and I'm up late because I have to come up with a good one for Quality Month to inspire employees at a  Japanese manufacturing plant in the US. It's been a long day, and all I can think of so far is     "We've Upped Our Quality, Up Yours"   Its catchy all right, but I don't think it will fly.  :shake:
  9. I underwent 3 days of physiological testing once for a job.  After all was said N done, this guy walks in and said I was too passive for the job and what did I think of that?  I said "It took me years to get this way."   What was the job you ask?  Killin sensitive people.    How much you give me for a list?  ^^^
  10. Butt, thats what makes TGO, a really good read.
  11. Memphis, Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Chattanooga, who gives a hoot.  Been there, lived there.  Just trying to pass along something interesting. Which you may notice I don't do alot, because folks round here, they be a bit sensitive.
  12. Yup,  He has to train & work  a new position on his job, and will be there for a year before he gets to come back to Mid Tn.  I'm sure he thought he would be safer with those gates and all.
  13. My 6' 2"  250lb male friend was robbed Sunday night @ 11 pm after work. He pulled into his gated apartment complex, parked his car and by the time he walked to the trunk he was jumped by two black males who had been hiding behind parked cars.  One stuck a shotgun to his neck and another had a pistol in his gut.  They asked where his wallet was, and removed it from his front pocket along with his car & apartment keys.  They left in his car.  His girlfriend had been visiting him but had left Memphis on Saturday.  He does not carry, but she does.  She said she felt safe while there.   I'm glad he was ok, they are pretty shaken about it.   Hopefully this will help to increase their awareness.  He is changing his locks today of course.    Edit: they took his smartphone also.

"I generally dislike stickers on vehicles.  I particularly dislike gun stickers on cars.   But WTH,  thats why they make apples and oranges.       How do you get apples and oranges to stay in place?    ;)
  16. My cat ran off for two days, scared by fireworks last Sat. night.  My life was miserable.  My wife cried over and over..  The cat finally  came home this morning,  thank you Lord.    I doubt she will be outside for the fireworks season.  Even tho she is a outside cat, she is scared of her shadow, and thunder.   She will kill the Sh*t out of these rabbits that lay around the yard like their someones houseguest tho.   Taste just like chicken. Keep your pets close.   Have a safe and happy holiday.   Peace

    Sub 2000

Thanks for the info. Didn't know that.  I feel enlightened.  ;)   Question?  Do you have to have a tax stamp or something for the Ar or Ak pistol?  Thanks
  22. "I had some time to kill"   yes I did, but I had no weapons to do that, or defend myself.   ;)
  23. I spent the last 2 weeks in the Windy City for medical treatment. Of course this is at Northwestern University Hospital on the Gold Coast. Parking at the Hotel with a room was just under 70 bucks a night. Everyone standing around with their hand out it seems to me.  Anyway they have 17 people shot in a park not too far away and it makes national news.  They leave out the fact that 2 hours before that, another shooting occurred,  3 or 4 hit, one or more dead.  Then later another shooting, bringing the total for the night to over 20 shot, and they just kinda dropped the fact that a couple were killed and focused on the fact no one was killed in the 17 shot and one was 3 years old.  Taking your 3 year old to the park at 10:30?  In gang banger land.  Gimme a break.  Then they parade on the local tv blaming the problem on ILLEGAL GUNS. The next night 10 people where shot in retaliation for the night before. WTF? I had some time to kill, so I stopped by the NWU hospital library, and tried to log onto this website.  GUESS What?  couldn't do it because it is related to WEAPONS and blocked.   Hows that for idiots? Unfortunately I'm leaving to go back next week.  Fortunately I will be in the hospital for the month I am there..  I hope no stray bullets fly my way.. Note to self, stay away from windows
