Maryville's Mayor is anti-2nd Amendment
gun sane replied to TNinfidel's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It'll take awhile. The city council members who picked the mayor are on a staggered election cycle. The MAIG controversy may peter out before Taylor's held accountable. -
A judge has thrown out the lawsuit filed against the ATF by the family of Brian Terry, who was murdered as a direct result of Operation Fast and Furious. The reason? They've already received compensation out of a fund for federal employees killed in the line of duty and a workman's comp payout. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/15/Obama-Admin-Catches-Terry-Family-On-Technicality-Lawsuit-For-Slain-Border-Agent-Thrown-Out The family has said they would appeal. Meanwhile, calls for Atty General Eric Holder's impeachment is gathering steam. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/13/Congressman-Pete-Olson-introduces-Articles-of-Impeachment-against-Eric-Holder

I'm not a lawyer but I have argued with a few cops in my day. I would say a BP revolver is not a breechloader since it's loaded on the opposite end of the primer cap. In essence, the cylinder is a barrel.

Just as a reminder (or maybe for some an announcement) John Stossel is doing a piece tonight on the Fox News Channel about how the government burdens us with stupid regs, like applying for a gun permit in New York City. Might be worth a watch. 9 pm EST. http://video.foxnews.com/v/2842780332001/stossel-special-war-on-the-little-guy-sat-on-fnc/

Are they mad because the hunter kills wild animals for sport or is it because she's a woman with a pink rifle? While it's against my nature to snuff these creatures just for fun, the woman did take a moose's backstrap for supper. And if it's tasty, she probably gave the lion's meat to the South African community. But why kill animals when you can get meat at a grocery store? :yum: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/11/16/trophy-hunter-enrages-internet-after-posting-picture-of-slain-lion-online/

For seven minutes, this guy let the elk try to goad him into a fight. It would be laughable if it wasn't so dangerous. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/11/14/brave-photographer-takes-on-elk-for-7-minutes-and-it-was-all-caught-on-video/

Because Healthcare.gov is a total clusterfark, they had to start up a new alternate: http://www.obamacaregov.us/index.php

I watched him on Megyn Kelly's show tonight. For a minute there, I thought she was going to forget she was a lady and do the job for ya, Raoul.

Here's the kind of stories America needs to read instead of accounts of football players getting their feelings hurt or kids kicked out of school for pointing fingers. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/11/09/final-toast-trio-of-surviving-doolittle-raiders-who-bombed-tokyo-in-top-secret-wwii-mission-gather-for-the-last-time/

Not for nuthin', but the Constitutional provision which allows for impeachment of officials is not predicated on what is politically possible at the moment. It's there because it's a just process for removing corruption in government. I can't bring myself to believe the writers of the document would advise waiting until the next election to see how the tide turns. The House should bring impeachable charges against the tyrants whatever their potential for success. If evidence of crimes against the nation and the people are never brought to that level, how will we will ever foster an appreciation of justice and integrity in our government?

We can all agree that It's really foolhardy to enter into any argument about a subject in which you have no knowledge. I wouldn't argue with a chemical engineer because I don't know the first thing about the periodic table of the elements. You won't catch me in a debate with a mule skinner because of my ignorance of skinning and mules. So why would an atheist, who has no knowledge of God, wage an unending theological debate against Christians, who have come to know Him? It would be extremely difficult to convince me that a Rolls Royce doesn't exist if I have one sitting in my garage. But, as it is written, "Let God be true and every man a liar." We do see Him through a dark glass, but He gives knowledge and clarity to them who would ask Him for it. The founding fathers were men of an entirely different era. There were conflicts of opinion, granted, but at that time in history issues such as, "Does God exist?" were not on the front burner of the national stove. It was widely accepted that their ancestors sitting on upper branches in the family tree came here for the purpose of being free to worship God or to escape tyranny. Therefore it is logical to accept that they would include mention of the Creator into the foundational documents as the inspirational force of their beliefs of life and how men should rule and conduct their affairs. But the leaders of our emerging government also recognized that those who disagreed with their faith were entitled to taste the same freedoms as they, given that all humans are made in God's image. But we are here in the 21st century with a lot more historical and philosophical baggage to cart around. I suppose this is why we yearn to return to a more simplistic order of reasonable government. Today's political and social scene is filled with pure madness. It's best to look outside ourselves and discover timeless rules of wisdom that we all too often overlook.

I went to Farnsworth Firearms in Vonore today. He had about six or seven 500-round bricks of Remy Thunderbolt for $45 each, plus a lot of 50-round packages of other .22 LR. I've got plenty saved up, but I'm sure it would be like a cold drink of water to some touched by the drought.

Restaurant chains across the nation are serving up meals to celebrate Veterans' Day and to show their appreciation for our service. :yum: It's a good idea to check ahead and verify times, places and conditions. I went to one last year and they served me my meal on a shingle....then I was assigned KP duty. http://themilitarywallet.com/veterans-day-free-meals-and-discounts/

Years ago my wife went through a series of blood tests which showed overwhelming evidence of bone cancer. Just to make it official, the doc recommended a bone marrow test which, although painful, would conclusively prove what we all were fearing. However, we had recently become Christians and read in the Bible that if we would ask the elders of the church to anoint her with oil and pray in the name of the Lord, she would be healed. With no other scientific alternative, we decided to do just that. After the prayer, my wife simply said, "Okay, that's it. I'm healed." We told the doctor to cancel the bone marrow test as it would not be necessary. "You're a very sick woman," he answered. "I don't recommend we spend a lot of time discussing this." We decided that the best thing would be to undergo the test and settle it. The doctor called us a couple of days later, hemming and hawing that the test was inconclusive and that they were running the sample again. When he called back, there was a distinct humility in his voice. "We don't understand what happened," he began, "but your blood levels have returned to normal and there's no other indication of any disease." My wife said, "I told you so. Jesus heals."

Thanks, bersaguy. I've been meaning to try it out, but I'll take it from someone who knows.

My candidate for this year's Darwin Award is this pinhead who wanted to find out what would happen if he put 250 rounds of .22 LR into his mom's blender. His name and address have been withheld to protect him from frustrated shooters who may want to find out what would happen if he went into a blender. http://www.guns.com/2013/11/04/will-blend-250-rounds-22-meet-demise/

Years ago I had a table at the Houston Gun Collectors show. Somebody lit off a round in the next row of tables and he was immediately surrounded by cops and show officials. Turns out it was a vendor who had just traded for a bolt-action rifle and he wanted to see if it fed ammo smoothly. If gun shows want to put signs every 10 feet that's their business. But there should be at least one hanging over the entrance with big, bold letters: "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!"

The ugliest gun I ever laid my hands on.
gun sane replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Looks like an ingenious solution to non-existent problems. I've seen uglier guns, but at least they made sense. -
We have two credit cards and pay the balance each month. Our credit rating is above average and have never been turned down for a loan on a car or mortgage. I think the bank or finance company looks at a lot more than revolving credit on a card to see if you're a good risk.

I'll speak up for Home Depot in Maryville. Their sub-contractors laid our laminate flooring a few years ago and did a great job. I pulled up the old carpeting, prepped the floor and installed the quarter-round myself, thus saving a few hundred bucks.

Since you opened the door of discussion to CZ 75 copies, allow me to say that the IWI Baby Desert Eagle imported by Magnum Research fills the bill very well, too. I've got a 9mm all-steel model and have never had a handgun that shoots better. It's assembled in Israel with Italian Tanfoglio parts and used by several government security agencies under the name, Jericho 941. Believe me, nobody depends upon firearms more than the Israelis.

I hope I can explain this right, but Obama is at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to a pissing contest with Vlad. In Russia, anyone who questions or disses the decisions of Dear Leader might get a one-way ticket to Ice World, at best. In this country we have that pesky First Amendment that allows us to rip whoever, whenever and come back again tomorrow with the same message. Nobody has the guts to tell Vlad where to head in, but now there are voices arising from Obama's own amen corner that the bystander president should ease up on the trigger. I agree with DaveTN. Let's let somebody else play whatever passes for Santa Claus to the world's whiney rage boys.

Good point....it may not even have happened. I mean, who's got .22 ammo?

Was that the barrage just before Pickett's Charge? Ya shot too high, Rebs..
