i used to hunt with a mini 30 which was the 7.62x39. Never had a problem killing a deer with it. It was a great round. I also have a 308 and have killed numerous deer and hogs with it as well. Both rounds are awesome and is more than adequate to morally take a deer and it not suffer. A well placed shot with any legal round will work but the key is "well placed".

Rifle season. What are you carrying this year?

T/C Prohunter in 7mm08. i love the round. Or believe it or not, my ole Remington 788 in a 308 -
you know, that really never crossed my mind at the time but know that you mention it, that would have been a great idea. I for sure will keep this in mind.

Both... If i were guessing..now that the landowner of the property he was on heard about what happened, i doubt that he has a place to hunt at least there for the rest of the season. That sounds kinda like i tattled on him like a kid but the alternative stuff that came to my mind after the fact wasnt a very "responsible" thing to due.

Good question. My friend that owned the land I was hunting on said the same thing. At the time, standing in the middle of the woods with a guy in which i have no clue of who it was and what state of mind he was in was really trying to avoid him. However, knowing what I do now, like him not even owning the property that he was on, I would have gutted the deer under his stand so he get to walk through it when he came down from the tree.

I did in fact get with my buddy afterwards. The story gets even worse. The guy that denied my retreaval of my deer didnt own the property he was on either. The land owner of that side of the fence doesnt even hunt. In the words of Ron White: "that spun me in a state of p!ssed off that i havent been to in my life". I'm very nonconfrontational if at all possible however this hit quite a nerve.

Well...After waiting all year for my favorite part of hunting season...I get to the woods an hr early, get in my ground blind and patiently wait. Aprox. 8:50am a very nice size doe comes out and gets within 20 yds. I decide to harvest the deer. Due to her being so close, walking toward me i had to make a difficult shot however was a succesful shot. The deer runs 40 yards and falls. The property I was hunting on belongs to a friend of mine so we have went over the boundaries several times. This particular spot where the deer has been seen frequently was within 50 yds of the property line. The deer took 1 jump over the fence after being shot tried another jump and fell into a low gap of the property. After waiting a few minutes making sure she was dead, I got up, walked straight over to where i saw her drop and much to my surprise someone was in a distance sitting in a tree stand. He stopped me abt 3 ft from the fence and would not let me retrieve my game. I'm sure the fact that we were so close to one another and neither knew it probably had him in a bad mood, however, he was hunting the line just as I was. And not allowing me to walk 5 yds on his property to get the deer i shot was a little on the childish side...just my opinion. I've hunted since I was a kid and has never had a person not let me get a deer that I shot. Needless to say, I went back after he left the woods and my deer was gone. Anyone ever had this happen?

i've had one for about 2 months now. As far as the gun itself, I have a ball shooting it. I really like it and have no complaints. I did have a small issue out of one of the factory mags but only happened once. The spring in the bottom of the mag stuck and ammo wouldnt feed. Other than that it shoots great. I've shot more than 200 rounds through it so far and its been great.

ive got the P238 rosewood with crimson trace grips. Absolutely love the gun. Quit counting rounds some time back but I shoot it all the time....Never had a missfire, malfunction,ect... You wont go wrong...I promise. I do agree though. The HD shoots great but is a little heavy to carry in ur pocket.

I was shooting 100 grain of powder last year but I have stepped it up to 150 grain. I bought shock waves over the weekend and sighted in the scope with it so im going to try this out and see if it makes a difference. I will give a report after next weekend...assuming I will see something to shoot at. LOL!

I have just recently purchased a T/C Encore Pro-Hunter muzzleloader. It has the Omega BDC ret. scope mounted to it. I will be sighting it in Sat Morning. I have been told different opionions and thought perhaps I would ask u guys the same question. I have been hunting with a muzzleloader for a long time using power belt sabots however I seem to have a problem getting a very good blood trail but my shots mostly are dead on. I'm wanting to try something different. Any suggestions?

i had the Pf 9 and the P11. The Pf 9 was a better carry gun due to the width, wieght, ect...however I didnt like the trigger at all. Some people can get used to it but not me. I will tell u that the brass case was the way to go with mine. I may have picked up an early one but steel casings were not very succesful for me. I sold both of mine and bought a sig p238. Totally different gun and i like it alot better. However, I do know of someone that lives fairly close to your neck of the woods that has one for sell. U should be able to purchase one of these new out the door for less than 300.00 just about anywhere. Im with everyone else. For sure take the time to shot one of these before u buy one. At least feel the trigger on one.

I have the 92 and the 96...Both are great guns. I do the same thing ur wanting to do and thats take it to the woods while im hunting. Very accurate and to me a very hard to beat shooter that sometimes gets over looked by some. They have been around for a long time. I take the 96 most of the time only because i like its got a few more blemishes than the 92. Great Gun!!!!

well...once again you guys have helped me a bunch...its not a cpo verifying it with the serial number and the gray box...i even got intouch with sig. It really wasnt that big of a deal after reading everyone's input reguarding it i just wanted more info on what i had purchased. So far...its a little raw but shoots great! I will for sure take all the advice given. Thanks again TGO!!!

Until today, the only sig I have ever owned was my P238; which i still have and love. So today, a guy comes into work and notices that im a gun fan so we start to chat. He informs me that he has a never fired, new in the box sig p220. He gave me a price which I thought was fair....long story short i'm now the new owner of it. It's everything the guy says it was however I really know nothing about it. I called a friend of mine after my purchase in which he informed me that some of them are refurbished from sig...Another person told me the same thing. Can anyone educate me on this? All i know is that its DA/SA, no rail, 45 in a gray sig box that says "made in Germany" on the side. I hope i didnt getting taken. Like I said it was a "fair" price...by far not a steal!

a guy at work has a p226 and is without a doubt a huge fan. i have shot it and although it shot great it, the gun just didnt satisfy me. I've never shot a p30 so I can't speak facts about it. i do have a friend that has one and likes it....however my choice...with pretty much no reservation would be the emp. i have shot the 9mm and the 40. i love the feel and it can for sure be used as a great carry if you get the urge to do so! I dont personally own one yet but about another month of saving and i will for sure be a proud owner of one. As far as the future purchase of a pocket pistol...I do suggest the sig238!

I would stay with the glock for sure. I have a g27 that i used to carry all the time. Now its mainly for winter carry. I used to have a 65 3''. It was a great shooting gun as any smith revolver in my opionion however the g27 just fit me better when it came to everyday carry. As TNWNGR said, I would try to figure a way to get them both. You may find each is different enough to keep...If not sell the one you like the most. I have made the mistake too many times of selling a gun to get another one and then regret getting it.

thanks guys. I think I have found the fix. I called the place where I bought my AR and explained the situation. The only said he had the exact same condition as well. He is right handed but shoot lefty. He said that he sent his to a smith and explained the situation. He said he dropped it off and by lunch he had it fixed. The guy didnt charge him anything to fix it so it must be simple.

i opened the can of man and it said that it was tired of having .223 circles on its face! LOL. I've got like 9 circles on my cheek which doesnt bother me but looks kind of odd. Its a great conversation catcher! thanks for the help.

Well...I finally got an AR which I love. I'm just getting into this world and I must say, already im rackin up my wish list for things to get. However, being left handed and not researching much on that side of the gun, I'm finding that the brass consistanly is hitting my right cheek...which stands to reason due to me being on the right side of the gun. I'm sure there is, but does anyone on here have any experience with eliminating this problem fairly easy? Dont even say it! I have tried shooting it right handed and its just no fun. The gun itself I love and feels great to shoot. I just never really thought of having this problem when I was looking at them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You guys have taught me several things since I have been on here! Thanks, Travis

I love the 586 and 686's...$400 is unheard of anymore for a smith wheel gun in that kind of shape. I was at a gun show last weekend and guys were carrying rusted out smith's of all kinds asking more than that. I have a 686 and am ashamed to even say what I paid for it after seeing your post. Great gun, Great price...seems almost unheard of lately!!!

Like just about everyone else on here...I have no complaints whatsoever. My 238 is awesome. I carry it everyday in my pocket with no trouble. I like the 1911 style frame and I happen to be a fan of SAO. I have shot tons of 380's and by far, hands down, the 238 is the way to go. This is also my first Sig and I'm very impressed. I did hear as others have mentioned that the early production guns had a few issues but Sig seems to have worked it out because mine has shot flawlessly with a different name brand ammo everytime went to shoot. Factory Mags seem to be a little high. I wasnt aware of the colt mags working in them so I will have to give that a shot. Thanks JG55.
