For that same amount of money, I'd take one of these.

Granted, that's a completely different class of airplane... more expensive to maintain and operate, and requires a greater investment in training as well. But hey, you're flying a piece of history.

That's pretty awesome. I've always wondered why the "flying car" concept has never moved further. This may be the right track.

If you're talking about a dual-purpose machine that you could both drive on the street and fly selectively... there's a big barrier there involving the completely different control setups between a car and an aircraft. And then there's the question of propulsion... do you have a single powerplant that can either turn the wheels, or else a prop? Two separate powerplants? Either way, you're talking about added weight, and weight is the bane of aircraft design.

Disclaimer: I'm not an aerospace engineer. I don't pretend to be any kind of expert. So I might just be off-base here, or just thinking in the wrong direction. Carry on, and please try the veal.
