Old Sears Store Brand Rifles - Parts Interchangeability

Hi all-

I have an old Sears Ranger 35  single shot rifle. They were made by several different manufacturers, but I've gotten mine narrowed down to a Savage 52B.

I need a firing pin, which looks like this:

I can't find any on Ebay or other sites online.

I assume these older inexpensive guns don't have that much proprietary about them.

For the flat 22lr firing pins, how much does their thickness vary? If not too much, could another be ground down and shaped with a decent chance of success?

Like this? https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/413700a

Alternatively, anyone recognize a similar firing pin that would work or maybe have one in their parts bin?

Thanks in advance!

There's a store crossover reference in the back of the Blue Book. I find no reference to a Ranger 35. Does your rifle have an "A" after the model #. Ranger 35A? According to my book that would be a Stevens 66A.  Does it have a Sears model number? Usually three digets a dot and then more digets. XXX.XXXX

It may take some time and searching, but I'm sure somebody probably has a firing pin for your rifle.

Nope, just 35. No other model numbers anywere. My research puts it in the mid 1930s, so it may predate the standard Sears model numbering scheme.

All I can suggest is that you search the internet used parts dealers. Taking it to a gunsmith would probably cost more than the rifle is worth.

I did a search for a Sears Ranger Model 25. I get semi-autos and magazine fed bolt actions, but no single shots. Post some pictures, maybe somebody can tell you exactly what you have and where you might find parts.
