Winchester 71 .348 Winchester

I was finally able to pick up a Winchester 71.  Been on the hunt for one for quite awhile.  All the ones I wanted were in excellent shape and had the price tag to match.  I found this one in an auction out west.  It has seen a lot of use but that just gives it more character.  The rear sight has been removed and a Lyman peep sight installed.  I guess because of that nobody seemed interested and I picked it up pretty cheap.  Now I just have to give it a good cleaning and put a few rounds through it.

Yes, I would rather pay less for a good used firearm. Then a buttload more for one that hadn't been used. Something about a used firearm just makes it more appealing to me. Congrats on the buy!

NICE score 👍   Ten years ago I was working out west and hit a huge huge gun show/expo  and a gent had a handful of Win' 71's offered.  HOLY cow. . all were near $3000.  I'm a fan of the .348 after shooting my buddy's 71,  but I'm champaign tastes with a beer budget.   My buddy , like myself,  cast our own 80% of the time.  He had a 250gr mold made and was popping them out at  2,250+  fps using Varget.  That's outrageously impressive, matching 450 Bushmaster's impressive specs.  I'm a lever fan (Got five JM Marlins bought in the early 90's) . . .always wanted that 71 in a 348 to fill that mid-bore heavy hitter category. 👊

I have a Browning 71 in .348 Winchester for sale if that itch still needs scratching...😀
