I love the feel of the FNS-9, but I need to send this one in for the recall work. The FN 509 is a damn gorgeous piece, with a slightly lighter racking tension?  It is about 50g heavier, however. They both feel great, but the FNS-9 seems to have the edge solely due to the lighter weight. I'd love to hear feedback from the forum!

I liked the feel of the FNS9 but need to find a project so I sold mine. I found something I liked better and it started slowly to stop going to the range.

What did you find?

At one time I had several FNS examples; those have all been pared down to one FNS longslide which I will probably hang onto for a while.  I had hopes that the trigger could be made better, but aside from some spring replacement, not much was forthcoming.   I also had a few 509s, including the Tactical and the LS Edge, but the triggers were so tough on those that they didn't last long either.

Being a fan of hammer guns, I had the same conundrum as you, but with the FNP and the FNX.

I ended up keeping the FNP, I feel the older models were a little better built.

I bought an FNP back when they first came out. I was really excited to get it. It was my first polymer 9mm and I was kind of a hammer gun snob at the time too. Sadly, I never even got a chance to shoot it because a buddy of mine wanted it REAL bad and couldn't find one in stock. I knew he was looking for one and felt bad for buying it for myself instead of telling him I found one, so I sold it to him for what I paid. He still has it and loves it.

Later on, I traded for an FNS-9 and only got to take it to the range once. I liked it a lot, but I traded it to a different friend to get a pistol back that I wish I had never sold him. He later became a cop in Mobile, AL and wanted the FNS-9 really bad because it was on their list of duty pistols, but he wasn't allowed to use the CZ SP-01 I had sold him because it had been tuned for competition.

I've thought about buying another FN several times. I think they are excellent pistols. I loved how it feels and shoots and I personally think they are one of the best looking striker fired pistols made. Gool luck with your decision.
