Need Advice 100k+ .40 S&W Brass – Worth Reloading?

Recommended Posts

I recently got my hands on over 100,000 rounds of once-fired .40 S&W brass from a local sheriff’s department. A friend picked it up for me, thinking it was mostly 9mm, but after going through the boxes, only about 5 out of 150 were actually 9mm.

I don’t currently own any .40 S&W firearms, so I'm considering buying one. But before I do ... does this brass look good enough to reload? I'm new to reloading, so please forgive any rookie questions.

What he said.... Look around and be patient and you'll be able to find PD trade ins for a bargain. They are usually fired only once or twice a year during quals and likely show some holster wear, but otherwise they are barely broken in and will usually come with some mags.

Aims Surplus always has good deals on police trade-in 40’s.  In fact they have Glock 22’s for $299.95 right now, plus several other options like super cheap Sigs if you like DAK.
