So I'm thinking about taking a job in Texas. I was looking up the laws for Texas and found the following page. It provides crime stats and breaks down those with concealed handgun licenses versus those without. Pretty stark contrast.

Texas DPS - Conviction Rates Reports

Wish we could get something like this for TN.

It's odd if they are permit holders how did 9 of them get convicted of unlicenced carrying of a weapon in '07? Maybe an unapproved weapon, or unregistered (if they have that there), or maybe they have to carry what the qualify. Just thought that was odd.

Yes I wish we had similar data for TN some is out there but not near to that detail that I have seen.

It's my understanding that open carry is not allowed in Texas at this time... It may well be somebody who illegally open carried there... Or could be related to a hunting violation... both would seem to fall under that category.

I was thinking that the "UNL" meant unlawful. If that's right then it could include carrying while drunk or carrying into forbidden places, etc.
