Bought a boring old glock 17 4th gen new. 3 17rd mags, box o' ammo, case and stuff for $490 and tax.

Very nice gun. It needed lube right out of the box. I am replacing one I sold way back in the 1st gen days. It has the curved serrations on the slide and the nice textured grip and the accessory rail. Nice comfortable shooter.

I went in to the store to pick up a subcompact carry gun. I looked at every gun in the store, Kahr, KelTec, S&W M&P, XD, kimber, Walther, HK. I weighed the differences in 45 vs 40 vs 9mm vs 380.

I decided to carry my tried and true Glock 36 .45 and get a high capacity late generation common ammo handgun that my wife can handle and I can trust.

I finally replaced that one "that got away", but it feels more like "been there, done that." Kinda blah. :tinfoil:

Congrats! I guess... yea nothing exciting about buying a utility item, but they do get the job done. Yup just a generic bang stick, you could have got her a really sexy compact 1911 in 9mm... now that would not have been blah at all...but the G17 will keep her safe.

Just bought a 17- 1st gen., sandpaper grip, 3 boxes of ammo, range bag, 2 holsters, 2-17rd clips, and night sites for low $$. I sometimes carry my mod. 27 (like it) but just took the 17 to the range and really liked shooting it. after the range, what can you say but Glock is a dream to break down and clean. Got a little long in saying "not a bad buy".

The only reason Glocks can be considered boring is that they work so well! They are rather like a hammer - nothing exciting except that they work when you need them. The "fondle factor" satisfaction level is pretty low on them, but that's okay. They get the job done. :-)

They work so well, they will even work by themselves sometimes!:popcorn:

I have started liking it a little better now that I have put a few rounds through it. The texture on the backstrap is amazingly non slip. It is kind of like velcro for skin. The gun grips your hand. I am shopping for a light to go on the rail, now. The wife is excited, It's her first gun.

I think the new slide serrations and grip are ugly. They should have left it the way it was, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Then again, I will use any gun that works, so in actuality, I wouldn't care.
