My First Colt 45

Recommended Posts

I finally bought a Colt 1911. It is the Combat Commander. The finish on the gun is Good.

The fit is ok. (I’m use to Dan Wesson’s)

I made a good deal on this NIB one and I’m sure I will love it after I shoot it.

Anything good or bad about these guns since this is my first one?

I have a commander i got from the widow of a retired Army Col. It was his personal side arm.

The grip is a little small for my hand, (the XD fits me perfectly).

As old as the weapon is with so many rounds through it, my expectations were not high, I really bought it more to help out the window than because I wanted it. But it shoots tight groups at 50 ft and feels virtually new.

I had a colt built M16 when I was in the Army and it was the same way. I know that some folks give colts a bad rap, but I loved my colt built 16 and I love the commander.

YMMV
