I sure could use a place to go near Memphis or Savannah, my stepson got the huntin bug, so I figured I'd take him. We are not out to slaughter the dove field just get him a little experience and see what it's all about.

Has anyone here ever been to the White Oak WMA dove hunt? I was thinking about trying that one, but haven't heard much about it.

I plan on taking the kids to Wolf River WMA. I'v never done it before but I know they plant sunflowers there. Maybe we could get together?

Anyone taking their kids to the Lincon or Marshall county Youth fields? I am thinking about making the drive from Clarksville tomorrow.

Don't know on a specific location. But they are flying pretty good down marshal county way where I was :D

I'm going to miss opening day too. Bag a few for me.

Well how did the hunt go on opening day?

It was the best day ever! Only shot one dove, but I got to spend the entire day with my daughter on her first dove hunt.

We both fired about 1/2 a box of shells in 6 hours. The doves were not flying well. Of the 10 or 12 doves we shot at, about 3 were legitimately within range. We still had fun. My daughter got to shoot her 20 gauge enough to figure out it wasn't going to hurt her. She is ready to go again. Mission accomplished.

I'm glad you had a good day. If you want to actually limit in an hour or 2, you've got to get on a private field. None of the TWRA fields have ever been any good from my experience with it, but, that could be different now. They used to burn the fields off, which I could never figure out why they did that. They burned up all the food.
