Does anybody have one of the books on these? Just list the different names of the models and I could probably get better information with a more specific name.

I'm not looking for the serial number ranges, number produced, or anything like that. Just what the names were, what caliber, and what finish and barrel length were available.

The Colt "Snakes" included Python (357 mag, 38spl), Diamondback (38spl, 22LR in 2.5", 4", and 6" in Blue and Nickel and a few Electroless nickel), Cobra (38spl, 22LR, 32NP; 2, 3, 4"), Anaconda (44 mag and 45 LC, 4", 6" and 8"), and the Boa (357 mag), King Cobra (357mag, 4 & 6", bright stainless and stainless,. The Boa was of course not a Colt name but a group of guns sold to a distributor (Lew Horton) as a limited edition. All calibers were not available with each barrel length.

Finishes changed over the years with basic Blue and Nickel being the most common. The Anaconda was a brushed stainless gun and the Python (2.5", 3", 4", 6", 8") came in Blue, Nickel, Bright Stainless, and Coltguard/satin nickel (electroless nickel). I'd have to check about the electroless finish, but they pretty much brought that finsih out in the early 1980's and you found it on most revolver models.

There are few stickies on the Colt Forum. You must pose a question or use the search function.

All this information is available in most any Blue Book of Gun values and similar books.
