Grimel - Look at what is happening - Check the stocks of insurance companies - they are worth approximately 25% MORE now... Something that started the DAY the "government option" was removed. Their Lobbyists won.

If you will bother to search on oil, big oil, etc you'll see where I stated then and I'll state it again now - most investors are morons that have no idea what they are doing. If you have public insurance stock, sell it now at the top, maybe 3 yrs from now, maybe 5, but, it won't be worth jack after Obamacare comes into effect.

Look at what the plan does.

THERE IS NO LIMIT on what the Insurance Companies can CHARGE.

THERE IS NO LIMIT on what the Insurance Companies won't cover

There are NO LIMITS ON HOW MUCH PROFIT Insurance Companies can Make!

So, how is it NOT a WIN for the Insurance Companies?

1) the insurance companies have no limits on profits, what they can charge, or can exclude (won't cover) NOW.

2) how is it not a win? Other than the insurance companies can NOT exclude previous conditions (so they can't not cover the high cost people - the opposite of what you say will happen). Not to mention they will have government oversight. If that isn't a fiscal disaster for the insurance companies nothing is.

Insurance advertising and lobby effort against the health bill estimated at approx. 3 BILLION bucks.

Follow the money indeed.

How much did the socialists wanting to "change" everything spend (hint more than 3 billion)

Whatever you may feel about this legislation and the future of the country, don't shed one tear for the insurance companies. They will be fatter than ever, and will continue to find even more devious ways to maximize profits while minimizing payout to the providers and policyholders.

That is the JOB of a business. If the government would get out of the way and let capitalism work prices would come DOWN.

I won't even debate the public option, but without it, it's quite obvious that the health insurance industry will merely continue the same industry wide price fixing scheme they rely on now.

- OS

It is a government price fixing scheme brought about by gov. controls. The public option would a) bankrupt the country :( destroy the best health care system in the world and c) let the most incompetent "businessmen" in the history of the world have control of 1/3 of the countries economy.

Folks that favor socialism scream about the profits of others. It's typical jealousy of the uninformed. If insurance becomes an extremely lucrative business, other companies will form. More companies will drive down prices. This ALWAYS happens in pure capitalism. You see, the government REGULATES insurance. States tell these companies what they have to offer and what they have to pay. It is not a free market. It is manipulated by government.

Why are the ignorant so vocal?

Producers of soda products make more profit than insurance companies. Also like stated by Semiauto if insurance companies could sell across state lines then that alone would drastically drive down insurance premiums.Im so sick and tired of people crying about well so and so makes this much and its not fair.If you dont like the situation you're in get off your ass and change your situation!

Look at what the plan does. It fines you if you are Citizen WITHOUT Insurance. So you HAVE to BUY insurance. THERE IS NO LIMIT on what the Insurance Companies can CHARGE. THERE IS NO LIMIT on what the Insurance Companies won't cover. It fines businesses if they DO NOT purchase insurance for their employees. So Businesses HAVE to BUY insurance. In addition the Government creates BILLIONS in Subsidies to PAY FOR insurance for the Poor. There are NO LIMITS ON HOW MUCH PROFIT Insurance Companies can Make!

So, how is it NOT a WIN for the Insurance Companies?

The government option was taken out of the Senate's proposal but not the House's proposal. Now they have to merge the 2 proposals and no telling what will change and come out of it.Then the final proposal has to be voted and passed by both.

And no you dont have to buy insurance you can just pay the fine.Since they cannot deny your from previous symptoms then why not pay the fine which would be cheaper than insurance and purchase insurance when you have a catastrophic problem.

I've started to try to convince the wife we want to move to Switzerland once I get my finance degree. They've got lots of banks, lots of guns, and generally lots of freedom (more than here it would seem).

Problem is, in order to move there you have to have work (unless you agree not to work). They hire Swiss first, European second, everybody else last. They're more than happy to have you if you can sustain yourself without a job (i.e. big retirement fund).

Regardless of what is finally passed into law, it is NOT a bill about making sure Americans have adequate, affordable healthcare. It is about Congress having complete control over US.

Sure, they might allow the insurance companies to continue to operate and even make a profit- for now. Next thing they will do is demonize them for making said profits and insist it is time to institute what they "should have done in the first place", total government control of the healthcare industry (read that, "your life").

The progressive plan is a long term one. Why do you think so many dems/progressives are willing to go totally against the will of the populace to the extent of losing their personal power NOW? Because it will get the foot in the door for total control over the populace.

Maybe they feel, or have been told the loss will be short-term, or offset by "other" gains- or maybe Soros and his ilk- the true movers and shakers of the promotion of a OWG have told them, "pass this or else".

He who has the gold makes the rules, and the monies being thrown at the cause of enslaving the last free people- US- are staggering.

Look at what's been done historically all over the world. Beat a people down financially, create civil unrest and class warfare with welfare and promises of wealth distribution, disarm them...the list goes on.

The end result is.... totalitarianism, Communism, call it what you will. It is simply the removal of personal freedom from the people. Slavery of any kind is wrong. Slavery to a government is no less an evil than slavery to another man.

(Stepping off soapbox).

Listen to yourself

It sounds to me like you're paying extortion money. Good luck with that.
