Best Foods to Stockpile for an Emergency | Real Simple

In general, not a bad list. Gives you a list of fresh veggies and fruits to get if there is enough time to do a quick prepare.

What would you add or subtract, and why?

Their list is:

P-nut Butter, whole wheat crackers, nuts, trail mix, cereal, granola/ power bars, dried fruit, canned meat (tuna, salmon, chicken, turkey - Notice no Spam???) canned veggies, canned chili, canned soups, bottled water, sports drinks, powdered milk, sugar, salt, pepper, and multi-vitamins.

What to grab just before:

Apples, citrus fruits (oranges, grape fruit) avocadoes, tomatoes, potatoes (including sweet potatoes and yams) cucumbers, summer squash, winter squash, hard sausages ( sopressata or pepperoni)

They give reasons for each item, and give some advise for the emergency, like do not eat refrigerated foods after 4 hours of no power, etc.

So, again what would you add or subtract, and why?

For five days or less off the grid this is a good list. More than that, you're about to have some serious problems no matter what you've stocked up. I've heard that Tang is good. I mean, of course it ROCKS with Stoli, but I'm talking about for survival or emergency situations.
