I love those things. Ate through 90 of them when I had me knee surgery. I must say though, even taking 2 at a time every 4-6 hours I never did feel out of it like ol Homer there. In fact, they seemed to give me energy and make me feel like I was ready to tackle anything. Bad thing was I felt like that at a time that I wasn't allowed to put any weight on my leg at all, so I had all that energy built up but couldn't do anything but lay on the couch. I about went crazy.

Of course at night time when I would take two Percocet and two Tylenol PM's the effects were much much different.

im that way now. they filled me with gas for my surgery and its all in my shoulders and i swear its about killing me. i had a better feeling with the hydrocodines i was prescribed on another surgery but these are just fine and dandy. i dont get the energy effect but i do get the mellowed out pain free one.

yes i know its percocet but it was too late to edit lol

I have taken percocets to the point now that they have very little effect. I have a major chronic back problem and see a pain management specialist once a month.

In 1989 I got run over while cycling. Had major knee surgery and woke up with a morphine drip in my arm. Itwas the most wonderful thing ever. I loved my morphine drip. For 2 days. Then I asked for it to be removed.

Be careful with those pills bro'.

" Be careful with those pills bro' " Good Advice, I watched a couple of good friends lose their jobs, family and home because of pain pills. I know one guy that used to be one of the best friends I've ever have and now I can't let him in my house because he steals to support his addiction. Take em when you have too but be careful

there is codine and codone. whats sad is i still have a prescription from 3 weeks ago where they gave me hydrocodone. i took only two of them and dont plan on any more. probably flush em down the toilet once im over this crap. sound advice it is. because of my past experience i hate taking pills of any sort even tylenol, but i unfortunately this pain is kicking my butt too much to not use anything.

2 percocets and a few beers.

Helped my knee feel better then my ribs, back in the day. Rinse and repeat twice daily :)

The Dr had a hard time understanding why i needed more before he had expected me too. LOL

I did that for four years. Finally got tired of depending on the pills and the drug dealer screens they put you through and I quit taking them.

Been about a year since I've had one. My pain level is still very high and it's a major struggle at times to get enough strength to live, but I'm proud of being pill free, though.

Yeah, druggies with guns.

I had back surgery about 2 years ago and I took 13 of my Hydrocodone(Lortab)(low dosage ones at that) and flushed the rest.

I learned that this was what I needed to do due to two shoulder surgeries where I swear the doctor was trying to get me hooked on them.

All that crap makes me sick to my stomach so they tend to give me mepergan (which is demerol with an anti-emtic to keep you from hurling). They knock me out and I don't know if I am sick from it.

Mostly avoid anything except an occasional Excedrin and of course a valium or xanax BEFORE a dentist visit!!

For just a couple days moderate pain, a combination of Ibuprofen and Tylenol is pretty good. Unless there are contraindications, for a couple of days you can take a double dose of ibuprofen and it is surprisingly effective.

Longer term, the NSAIDs shred my stomach and after awhile the pain is preferable to the nausea. When herniated the back, took an NSAID Voltaren for a couple of months, and that stuff is great (doesn't make you high, just kills pain/inflammation). But after a couple of months, the back pain was easier to bear than the stomach pain from the Voltaren.

Some people really like a narcotic buzz (obviously) but I hate it. Very unpleasant. Passed my first kidney stone a couple weeks ago, at first thought it was gallbladder symptoms. The ibuprofen and tylenol just wasn't gettin it against the kidney stone. Emergency room doc prescribed oxycodone twice as strong as some I had for the back 15 years ago. Took it for two days. Bad feeling buzz, but its the first time I saw narcotics actually significantly more effective than NSAIDs. Nauseated for 2 days, but better than the alternative.

I feel you brother. I am like that on the pain medicine. A little background, I fell at work on 07\07\07, Drs said I had a double Par's Fracture with a disintegrating disc at L5. Had surgery in 03\08, Laminectomy, Discectomy, and fusion of L5-S1. Surgery caused scar tissue that has now damaged the nerve roots, its permanent. I had a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted in 06\09, it's like a permanent TENS unit that effects from the bottom of my rib cage down, doesn't numb anything just scrambles the nerve signals. That helps the pain in my legs but doesn't touch the pain in my back, Leg Pain=10-15% Back Pain=85-90%. Drs are at the end of their ropes, don't know what to do next. Work Comp is talking about vocational rehab, surgeon's work restrictions are very restrictive, I'm not sure there is any job in this world that I can do with these restrictions. I can't do the things I used to do, can't do what I want to do, can't even do the things I have to do. I can't even sleep in a regular bed with my bride of 9 years for God's sake. Oh, and I just turned 30 this year.

So, I feel your pain, I know what you are going through. I have trouble making it through the day myself. I try to sleep as much as I can because when I sleep I don't feel the pain, unless I'm trying to roll over. I don't want to wake up because then I have to face the pain. I don't want to deal with the pain anymore, I'm tired of it. Sometimes I'm tired of life. I'm on here several hours a day, PM me if you want to chat.

im just gonna stop posting in here cause yall are making me sound like a whiny b*tch

Nah man. Pain is relative. I usually have a very high threshold for pain, just not for chronic pain. Everyone's pain is different. Some can handle it, others can't. Keep posting your experiences, I like hearing about them. I also know full well about how the removal of narcotics suddenly opens the flood gates.
