I once read a good review comparing the two... I'll post it if I can find it again. It was on the M&P forum, and even there the Beretta was preferred (by those who actually tried it, and weren't knee-jerking bias).

Having owned an M&P, but not a PX-4, I can't really give an objective opinion... but, every Beretta product I've owned served me well. I didn't keep the M&P though.

The rotating barrel configuration of the PX-4 is reported to significantly reduce the felt recoil, allowing for rapid follow-up shots. Plus, the controls layout is identical to the 92F(S)... which is a plus for military personnel who are accustomed to that platform, or others who prefer the Beretta manual-of-arms.
