Does anyone know what it would take to build one of these? Sorry if this seems to be a dumb question, but I'm a bit of a noob at all of this :)

NM... I answered my own question. Thanks!

You'll need to purchase a reciever from your FFL or bend your own flat. The reciever will typically run ya around 100 bucks plus tax and background check. You cant order the already made receiver online. The parts kit, you can however. The Yugo parts kits seem to be the most prominent in the market right now. As for assembly... AK's are pretty easy to assemble when it comes down to it. Its just getting the barrel in the trunnion thats the difficult part. Scour google and you'll undoubtably find instructions. I know there are some out there. All in all it'll run ya around 600 - 800. It'll require specials tools though. A 10 ton press to start with and then something to crush your rivets. I have a bolt cutter that i modified in order to do this. Squishing rivets in that front trunnion is a pain.

oh yeah...forgot about that. You can also permanently attach a fake can or other sort of "muzzle extension device" to bring it up to the legal 16 ". I wouldnt recommend putting it together until one of those are done to meet the legal criteria.

In all reality has anyone ever got busted for having an non stamped SBR? I think it would be one of those add on things like the police raid your house for cooking meth or (insert illegal activity here) and then they throw the book at you and find everything they can so you dont ever get out of prison. I just dont see a situation where someones going to inspect your rifle and turn you in...though $200 is a cheap price for peace of mind.
