It sucks sometimes what you have to go through to just prove your an American.

Yep, and all the while we have mexicans and God knows what else is pouring across the border like cockroaches. But that's all well and good....;)

I'm not particularly surprised that the people at the local office were misinformed. I was more taken aback by the person I spoke with at the Nashville office echoing the same thing, and apparently they were incorrect as well. You'd think that an individual working at the state permit office would have a good handle on the regulations.

My point exactly.....and these are the same people that some want to get legal opinions from about laws pertaining to carrying.

They'll take a DD214 (they always have) if its registered with a courthouse. Actually they may take it without the stamp, I dunno. Its a good idea to register it though. I would assume active military id would count if you are stationed in tn...because you can keep your home state driver's license. I would assume you'd need a copy of your orders, i dunno that either.

Due to the recent changes in travel laws everyone might want to consider getting a passport.

True...I have seen some travel companies saying what used to take 6 weeks can now take up to 6 months, might not want to wait till the last second to get one, even if you think you just might leave the country.
