But seriously - you could check out Dave Ramsey's "ELP" network for who he recommends in your area (might even be someone on his staff since he's right here in Cool Springs.

If not, I do like his one rule for financial planners: If your financial planner tries to sell you a product, they aren't a financial planner, they are a salesman.

I second the Dave Ramsey ELP (Endorsed Local Providers) list. We started the Dave Ramsey plan several years ago. If you can find one of his Financial Peace University classes near you, you will be empowered to become your own financial planner. He explains many aspects of financial planning so that everyone can understand it. Then all you have to do is actually follow through and stay on plan. Get smart, then if you do get a financial planner you know what they are talking about and you can steer your own ship. You'll also have a better chance of realizing when they just want to help you get rid of some more of your money.

It changed my life, and I've been able to help lots of others change theirs by passing on the knowledge.
