I'm driving to Colorado via KY, IL, MO, KS, then CO.

Making sure I'm current here- with my HCP, I'm good to carry (concealed) everywhere but Illinois?

Sounds good. Be sure to read up on each state's laws and such.

To be on the safe side in IL unloaded broken down to non functioning state, ammo separate both in locked cases. I suggest this as IL allows separate municipalities to write their own rules and regulations over there, IMO they’re all commies.

If you want.

Follow Federal law and you'll have no problems, even in Chicago. Fed law does not require breaking your weapon down, only unloaded, encased, inaccessible, separate from ammo.

Of course you could always take a little different route. Go from Nashville to Jackson. TN and take HWY 412 through Dyersburg and cross the Mississippi River there. You cross into Missouri at Catruthesrville, then take 55 north to St. Louis. It's a little longer but a little less traveled. I try to avoid IL like the plaque. Make sure you know if the state you are traveling in are must inform states or not, meaning if you get stopped wether or not you must inform the officer you are carrying or not.

I checked for you MO,KS and CO, are not must inform states, if you are stopped you may want to tell them but it is not mandatory.

I would 2nd the by way of jackson straight to missourah. U can do 24w to ky62 and cross the river cross near wickliff, ky and catch up to 55n to 270w also. Either way will skip the illinois issue & add a max of 30-45 min more.

Good idea. I think we'll do that.

I travel from Nebraska to Tennessee every year. I go to Paducah, Ky and go west on 62 over to the state line. You are only in Illinois for about 2 minutes that way and then take I-55 north to ST. Louis and I-64 west to I-70 Great good road. Good Luck
