bushcraft with the kids... lean-to shelter

Recommended Posts

My oldest girl asked me yesterday if we could build a fort near our garden area, to which I said possibly and asked what she had in mind. Much to my surprise she wanted a "lean-to thingy". Due to time constraints we were only able to get the frame work and a start on the bark layer yesterday. Today we got the first leaf and stick layer on. Once things dry out a bit we'll finish it up as well as the bedding. The kids are already wanting to spend the night in it.

Any how... here are a few pics.

She's got a She-Ra, Princess of Power thing going on with that blade don'tcha think? :D

That's awesome, though. Even if they never need to build one the experience a person gets from building things with their hands opens up many doors of understanding. That's being a cool dad right there. :)
