2 nice Toms down.

Recommended Posts

It has been a tough season at least for me. I got one on the 2nd day of season and thats been it. Well today my hard work and patience paid off. I have been taking a really good friend of mine with me showing him how to turkey hunt. He has been dying to get one. Since the weather has been warm we decided to go out and try and get him one. For some reason I decided to wait until 10 before hitting the woods (No I wasn't being lazy, actually got up before sunrise). As soon as we hit the first property we seen 2 good toms 1 was strutting. We eased in and set up. I began calling and immediately they responded. I called for at least and hour and a half before he finally committed. My friend Kevin was so nervous as he came strutting in. Once the turkey hit 40 yards I told him to hammer it and he did and down it went. He jumped up and screamed yes. I was just as excited as he was. We go over and man what a turkey. Ended up being 22 pounds with a 10 1/2 inch beard and spurs were 1 1/4 inches. Not bad for a guys first turkey lol. Well we tagged him in and put the bird on ice. We traveled 40 minutes to another property. We set up at a trail head and I started calling. 30 minutes later we have another big tom down. I shot him at 15 to 20 yards. He was 21 pounds 10 7/8 inch beard with 1 inch spurs. He was an old bird. There was another with him and it was a nice bird also. I had been hunting this bird all season with trail cam pics and I finally got him. I had my video camera but the battery went dead on me.
