AKM Extractor trouble

Recommended Posts

I have a Bulgarian AKM/AK74 5.45x39 and it is giving me extraction problem. I am using Russian military ammo, the 53 FMJ's. It will eject fine and then it throws one under the cover or just leaves it on top of the mag..... It makes good ejector contact so I can only assume that the extractor is not getting the rim good. I have cleaned the extractor btw and it looks good. You can snap it over a rim without too much force. I am thinking maybe a weak bolt spring...not closing the bolt strongly enough...

I will try the bearing idea....I guess great minds think alike....I did cut a small piece of spring from another spring I had, not a AK spring, and put it behind it.....seems to be working. Need to take it out and shoot it a bunch but I am going to wait till I get a new spring first.
