ak sight post problem

Recommended Posts

I've got a maadi AK that I bought a little bit ago and the sight post is bent. Not to be confused with canted. I was wondering if you can replace jsut the post without replacing the FSB. It looks as though you could screw the post all the way out and press the piece (not sure what it's called) out.

Yes, you can screw the front sight post out and screw a replacement in. You will need a new front sight post and a AK sight tool. These are readily available at every gunshow or just Google them. It is probably a $10-$15 fix. You could take this opportunity to get night sights for your AK.:tough: Here are some pertinent links:

If you want the industrial strength AK/SKS front sight tool then go here:http://secure.armorholdings.com/b-square/tools_scope.html

Good Luck!

How crooked? The front sight on my AK looked a bit crooked but it's pretty much dead on after a little adjusting. Plus the sight took itself has a pointed end on there to adjust the front sight left or right.

You need to post pics. It sounds like possibly the front sight base is cross threaded or you have a good old fashioned canted front sight base. It is hard to tell without seeing the rifle. I also live in Smyrna, PM me and possibly we can get together and take a look at it. I will be unavailable until later this afternoon. You could also try The Reloaders Bench in Mt. Juliet. I am sure they have the tool not so sure they would have a Front sight post.

C_O nice big dots.
