I tried carrying a smith j frame many years ago on the ankle. Did not like it at all. Never could get used to it. Awkward if you had to get to it in rapid fashion and always visible when you sat down at your desk or restaurant. I would stick with a pocket pistol if for whatever reason you couldn't carry OWB. IMHO.

Don't know the dimensions of the H&K USP Compact, but I have carried my M&P9c on my ankle in a Desantis Apache rig. Not the most comfortable, but doable. I don't recommend ankle carry as primary because of the increased difficulty in getting to the weapon. For back up it will do.
