Hand forged bowies WIP

Im gonna do this thread so people can see a very small part of what goes into a hand forged knife. I done quiet a bit of work today. Thanks guys


Ok so your gonna need a fire, which means you need fuel. Our fuel of choice is coal

And your gonna need a forge to build the fire in

And your need steel. My steel of choice for these is 1084 bar stock 1.5" x 1/4" 4 ft long

So first thing to do is hot cut it using a hardy cutter and hammer

So after we get it cut to length, in this case 13 3/4", we need to draw out a nice long hidden tang

Then you gotta start pushing the tip out into a clip point

And after hammering in the bevels, you have this to start you grind work
